She's gorgeous Dinah and NIM! She does seem to have a little personality too
How is it going with being at home and having to visit her rather than just popping upstairs? I'm sure it's completely natural to phone the special baby unit in the middle of the night!
I would love to send you something for her by the way if you would be up for that? Do you have an address which I could use?
Birdie if the hunger games is still going spare and it wouldn't be too much to post it I'd love it! I could paypal you the postage or something!?
I'm back to work following the loverly bank holiday weekend and I'm excited about it being a 4 day week (it doesn't take a lot to excite me!)
Not much exciting is happening this week for me but I'm tired, think i overdid it at the weekend ha!
Wendz and birdie it's so sad about your families' babiesbig hugs! I hope everyone's as ok as they can be but it's so sad

PM me your address Tink and I'll stick it in the post tonight or tomorrow
It's bad that I'm looking forward to the weekend already isn't it?! Even though we're skint so we can't actually do anything. We were invited out on Saturday and Sunday by OH's best friend (and his PITA OH) who was going on constantly about his random £7k payrise on top of his already huge salary, I don't think the guy realises that the rest of us don't earn half what he's on so on Saturday a group of us had to go out to an expensive restaurant and posh pub, where the tight sod didn't even get a round in, which cost more than our eating out budget for the entire month. On Sunday they invited OH and I to York to go to Betty's with them, where they insisted we order some lunch... then expected us to half the £50 bill like it was nothing! If I'd known that they weren't treating (which had been implied in the invite) I'd have insisted we get fish and chips and eat them on the street! They've invited us up to Scotland at some point but I honestly don't know how we could afford it as they eat out all the time and it's never anywhere cheap, and we'll have to take them a bottle of their favourite champagne and pay for a meal as a thank-you for having us, the problem is that OH doesn't want to look poor so would just pay for everything rather saying a word about perhaps doing something a little cheaper... It's obvious we don't earn as much as they do so why do we have to act like we can afford a lifestyle that is clearly out of our reach?! Urgh. Ooops, sorry for the rant!

So so sorry to hear about your SIL, Birdie
Hope she's okay as can be, and I couldn't even begin to think how your Cousin and his Wife must be feeling Wendz. That close to the birth you must think you're pretty much home safe
Hope your Nan is okay too, Ruby. So much sad news!
How was everyone's bank holidays? I'm only just back at work today, spent the last of my Birthday money yesterday on the last of my holiday clothes. Primark has some lovely maxi dresses for £7, if anyone's in need and/or going away! Was all excited last night when I was showing OH my loot because I could pack now if I wanted to  34 days! Already don't want to leave RyderHe's my little shadow getting.
I was wanting to send Grace a little something too, but couldn't really think how to ask!
I'd just tell them straight Birdie, how you're grateful for the invite but you simply can't afford it right now. Then it'll either go two ways of 'oh, okay' or 'oh, well it'll be our treat!'0 -
Why is this page displaying as too wide for my screen, I thought they'd gone on to 'fixed width' or something to stop that?
Anyway, good morning, hope everyone is well. Gosh such a lot of sad baby news, horrible thing to go through. How's your Nan doing Ruby? She must really have whacked her head to break her glasses like that
Was my Aunty's funeral yesterday, very very sad and there were so many people there that they a load had to stand outside and they turned the loudspeakers on. There were even old faces from the past like uncles' and cousins' exes turning up, she was a very special lady. Glad it's over now (if that doesn't sound too awful). Dad's continuing to do well on his treatment but I'm starting to get nervous as he'll be having another scan in a few weeks to see if it's making a difference - fingers crossed.
Hope everyone has had a nice weekend. I spent the majority of it spring cleaning but feel SO much happier - "Tidy sock drawer, tidy mind" and all that. I've managed to sort some stuff for ebay and some old mobiles to be recycled, to go towards my £2012 challenge.
Even managed to get my passport form sent off as we finally got our NY trip booked for October!! :j We're staying here and we've got a room with 2 Queen beds for the four of us (my girlfriends, not two couples or anything!) so it'll be like a sleepover every night! CAN'T WAIT!
Ugh Birdie your mates sound like a pain! Are these the same ones that host a BBQ but expect the guests to bring all the food? I find that the richer people are the tighter they are, that's how they get rich in the first place I think!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
I'm glad your Aunty had a good send off Tete, sounds like she was a very special lady who'll be much missed. Fingers crossed that your Dad's treatment is making a difference.
Now I want to go to NY, that hotel looks fab! You'll have a brilliant time I'm sure, will be so nice to have so much girly time, what have you got planned?!
Oh and I don't suppose you fancy coming round to mine for some spring cleaning?! I just can't be bothered with it, keep making lists but never knock anything off!
Has Ryder decided that he loves you now Cinny or is OH still his Master?!
Oddly the friends I'm moaning about are a different couple to the ones who like to charge for BBQs! Totally agree that the richer folk are the tighter they are though; the poorest ones in our group are the most generous as we know what it's like to be skint so we tend to share what little wealth we have! I got even more annoyed when we were in the car and this guy was asking why his brother (who earns about 2 thirds less than he does and is really struggling for money) didn't go to the expensive bar with the other boys after the meal, OH had to explain that some folks might not be able to afford to pay £4.50 for a beer and the guy said, 'Ah yes I suppose, we just forget that not everyone is as comfortable as we are, we don't have to think about the cost of food and drink'. Gah! He was never this much of a twit in the past but his OH has really done a number on him and made him really materialistic and stuck up, when they got engaged they couldn't get the ring from a local jewellers... she had to get it made in Dubai, then they had to go back there last month to get their wedding rings made and she ended up buying a load more jewellery too (and bragging about it constantly to everyone who would listen). What's wrong with popping to Ernest Jones with a £50-off voucher like I did?!We're dreading their wedding next year at it'll be SmugFest 2013!

Next time she starts tell her to shut the F*** up and shes a boring self obsessed 1 dimentional twit you only speak to cause your OH considers her OH a friend but you don't know how much longer that will last with her making him as materialistic as her.
One of two outcomes will result.
Either she'll cop on or she'll never want to see you again so its win win :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Plus the memory of her face will be pricelessThis was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.:j:j:j:j0 -

Not a lot yet! Need to do some research and put our heads together. I just want to eat a pretzel. And a hot dog. And drink a cocktail

Um, nope.

So they're happy to splash the cash, but only on themselves and never to treat their friends to lunch? Nice.Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Do what NIM said!
I'd pay to see that. I'm so glad I don't know anyone like that, but everyone we know is in the same boat as us moneywise anyways.
Sounds like your Aunts send off was a good one, Tete. It doesn't sound bad that you're "glad" it's over, it's a lot to go through emotionally without the added worry of everything else that's going on for you. I saw your post on facebook about her, it was really sweet. Hoping everything's going well for your Dad too. :grouphug:
I think Ryder likes me more than OH, but I figure it's kind of like when you'd spend all day with your Mum - which is lovely - but then it's 6:00pm and Dads home, and everything he does/says is just fantastic and brilliant purely because you don't see him as much.0 -
LOL NIM I can always count on you for an eloquent way of dealing with awkward folk! If only I had the balls, and I didn't have to worry about upsetting OH as it is his oldest/best friend's GF I'd be gobbing off to! I got no sleep on Saturday night (not sure why, just felt awful despite not drinking that much) so was quite grumpy and tired on Sunday so every time the girl starting talking I yawned at her... half because I was tired, half because I wanted to wind her up!
I suppose we should count ourselves lucky that they only visit a few times a year so at least we don't have to deal with them on a regular basis, our 'core group' is much nicer! Funniest thing is that his Mum is OH's second Mum, we're all very close and she's not keen on the GF and it is so easy to get her to have a good moan about them, it's got to be bad when your Mum doesn't like the woman you're marrying!
It's terrible but we've all got a pool going on how long the marriage will last... it ranges from, 'Won't even make it to the wedding day' to 10 years!
LOL cinny, I think you're right about the Mum/Dad thing, I was just like that when I was little! My poor Mum. Is he naughty for you and lovely when OH comes home too?!
Tete, my Mum made a big thing about wanting to go to a NY Deli and ordering a 'Pastrami on Rye with a pickle'!I love soft pretzels, so jealous of OH as he goes to Berlin in June and he's been teasing me about all the pretzels he's going to eat!
