My thoughts are with all of you with ill relatives its so hard and horrible because you have to be the support and youre no doubt worried too big hugs! and please feel free to vent on here as much as you want! It's partly what we're here for!
We've been assessing our spending diary today and its mad I literally can't believe how much we spend between us. I always think we are being so careful but then the numbers just dont agree! this is supposed to be a cheap february but we've already spend £200 on nothing really! I'm a bit annoyed because I dont know how we are going to get into the saving I'm so desperate to do :( we are thinking about getting a kindle though (I know this is anti the saving but I'm thinking we could do a voucher/something challenge to get the money for it) I think some of you have one.. Do you reccommend them? How much do you spend on ebooks?

That buggy is nice Dinah! sometimes too if you ask the seller they dont mind you arranging your own courier to come and pick it up for you (my hermes is generally cheap I find) and this might be easier/cheaper than the petrol/train!
  • Jeez so much going on

CMD so sorry you've had grandparent loss too, glad they had a lovely send off

Tete I'm so sorry about everything you're dealing with, hope you're managing to keep your mind off things, thinking of you x

Think I know what the icandy looks like Dinah, if it's the right one then I like the look of it! Hope your grandad is ok

Tink I got a Kindle with my birthday money. I got loads of books for 99p during their january sale, and a few free ones. I'm saving the for when I go away though so hadn't done much reading but I love it already!

Ohh cinny thanks I will look into that on quidco, could do with some extra pennies

    Saving for a deposit: £11,621.15

Looks like there might be some tape on the hood of the grown up seat for this one but the guy is gone properly shifty now. He emailed me this morning saying if I don't get in touch pronto he was gonna sell it to someone else and now he's still making comments like "are you sure you still want it" "don't worry if you don't want it" properly getting on my neck over it.
This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.

mmmm half sounds like it came off the back of a wagon especially with comments like that. Not as if it will be easy to nip over to that part of the country at this very minute.

Not easy at all, have an aunt over there who might go and check it for me. Thinking of going this weekend. Told him I'd be down this coming weekend if I can't get her to collect it and 10 minutes ago he says he's going away on Tuesday for 2 weeks.

We've paid for it through paypal so if it's dodgy we have the right to a refund, and he can't say we didn't pay so he sold it to someone else if it does go to a dispute. It's interesting though that within 5 minutes of making the payment he said he was going away for 2 weeks - I think he's really hoping we'll say we don't want it then as we reckon he's had a higher offer.

Wish we could get hold of NIMs aunt to pick it up tomorrow night, but we don't have her landline and the mobile is off.

In the advert, did the seller specify collection only or were they offering to arrange posting?

Can the seller not leave the buggy with somebody else for you to collect from since they are going away (Why do I feel this is at her Majesty's pleasure)?
  • Hi all just popping in to see if you knew about the £5 extra you get if you trade in 2 items on Amazon before midnight tonight - I think it's only on games and textbooks but I've just traded in 2 (rubbish) Nintendo DS games for a total of £12.20, plus the extra £5 :) It's just Amazon vouchers rather than cold hard cash, but still... HTH someone!

Oh, and sounds V dodgy with the buggy! I've been meaning to do a bit of ebaying for a few weeks and you've reminded me why I hate it so much!

That is really weird with the buggy! Hopefully you'll get it sorted/get in touch with NIM's Aunt.

Ahh, missed that offer Tete! Tried to be very productive yesterday, put some things on ebay, cleared my inbox of surveys and submitted some designs to a website. Annything for ze pennies.

How're you feeling today, Dinah? Hope you're starting to get more sleep!

    Morning!

How very strange about the buggy, I suppose when they say a deal seems to good to true as it usually is! It really sounds like he's had a higher offer so is trying to put you off; I wouldn't even worry about rushing to collect it, you've paid for it so it is yours. If he's going away on Tuesday then tell him that you're not in any rush and you'll collect it when he's back- and say that if he has any issues with that then you'll gladly involve ebay. I'm sure his trip may well be 'cancelled' and you/your aunt can fetch it at the weekend. :) This annoys me about ebay, it is an auction site... you take a chance when you list something and you could make a mint or a pittence. You want a set price, do a BIN. Always reminds me of a friend who won a leather jacket for £3... seller then e-mailed her to say that the jacket had 'unfortunately been damaged beyond repair and was no longer saleable'... friend e-mailed back to say, 'Yeah... I wouldn't have been happy about getting £3 for that either, good luck with the re-listing!' :p

Sorry to hear about your Granddad Dinah, hope the referral comes through quickly and the news is as good as it can be.

I have had an oddly productive weekend. Painted the bedroom on Saturday and it looks so much better now. Although the new clean walls do highlight the fact that the ceiling and paintwork need doing and I hate those jobs! It has also made me notice how all the other walls need painting too so I may be busy for a while longer, I'll also have to talk OH into agreeing to a colour other than magnolia too; I'm so sick of our walls all being the same boring shade, our bedroom is just cream but it looks like a huge pop of colour compared to what it was!

Yesterday I made a load of Valentine's Day cards, I'm hoping to sell them at work but now feel all shy about it now. I really like them and think they're all lovely, obviously, but nervous about asking people to part with their cash for them- what if they don't like them?! :o I also have no idea how to word my little marketing e-mail to send round... 'Hey guys! Buy my cards, they're cheaper than Moonpig and have bits of ribbon stuck on!' :)
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!
