Well... yeah! Price? Date? You can't give have a story! :p

I'm gutted that the studio tour thingy doesn't open until the 31st March, would have been nice to go later this month as we've got a day booked off work to do something nice for our anniversary. Might have to wait 'till May, but then again we really fancy going away for some sun just for 3/4 nights. Might have to brave it on a Saturday in April- will be so busy though!

The Harry Potter studio is near me,you can come visit hehe.
  • Hi guys - ahh I had a feeling it was a girl even though you were so sure it was a boy. I can see NIM with a little daughter to dote on :) I obviously know nothing about parenting but definitely get the impression there's a hell of a lot of stuff you don't need. People had babies in caves for hundreds of years with no help from Mothercare after all :)

So sorry to hear of all the family troubles CMD, Kavics and Dinah - hope you get something back from your Grandad's tests that you can work with. We've been going through it ourselves for the last few weeks, it's been so stressful. My Dad's been poorly with his stomach for about a year and going for test after test, finally this month he's been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer which can't be operated on because of where the tumour is - it's attached itself to blood vessels or something. It came as a shock to me I have to say - I'd have thought it would be the first thing they'd look for so when it dragged on so long I thought it couldn't be cancer but apprently this sort is notoriously hard to diagnose. Dad started saying things like he just wants to live long enough to see the olympics, which are obviously only a few weeks away, so it was really scary. He's been losing loads of weight too and it's awful to see him looking so frail when he's always been a big strong bloke.

But we finally got to see an oncologist yesterday and straight away he diagnosed diabetes when he heard my Dad's weightloss and thirst symptoms so he has some pills for that and can already feel a difference he says. We're really pleased with this as those two things are what have been worrying us the most so hopefully he'll get his appetite back and start to put some weight on. Re. the tumour, I was expecting to be given a timeframe in all honesty and nothing like that was mentioned so I'm feeling a lot more positive. He starts chemo on the 17th for ten weeks and we'll reassess after that.

On top of this, a week after Dad's diagnosis, my Aunty -his sister- lost the use of one side of her body and has been diagnosed with a brain tumour. Further tests showed that she's actually had cancer in her lungs and lymph nodes for a long time, the brain is secondary but the first thing to give her any symptoms. This is also unoperable but she's been for a biopsy this week to determine what kind of treatment she can have.

Whew, sorry for the outpouring - no siblings or OH or Mam means I've been holding all this in for a while, so it's all been very emotional and highly stressful but feeling a bit more positive now and have spoken to friends and work about it which has been a relief.

On the plus side I've qualified as a guinea pig for a study on massage in the School of Health at work which means a free massage a week for six weeks as long as I write down how it's affecting my stress levels and sleeping :)

    Just catching up with the thread;

Archers and CMD, Sorry to hear about your grandma's passing away *hugs for both of you*. I've only got the one grandparent left and we've never been that close till recently. She's got Dementia and I take it in turns with my aunt to go there and get her up and washed and dressed and make sure she takes her tablets (it's like being at work on my days off!) She's gone from a rather spiteful old woman into a pleasantly confused one. But I know things are just going to get worse for her in the next few months and we might have to think about putting her in a home :(

Hope your grandad is ok Dinah but eeeeekkk you're having a girl! I'm excited for you!

Spoke to the OH about the hypothetical moving crap and well I feel a lot better about it. In my head I saw the 4 year contract thing and thought "that's it, I'm going to be stuck there for 4 years on my own if he can' find anything" but in reality I don't HAVE to stay there that long. So IF I get the job and he can't move before Christmas, I will be looking for work back down south. That way I'll have about 6 months experience in the job and I stand a better chance of getting a similar thing back down here.

Sorry to bore you with my insignificant ramblings, I'm off my face on rather strong painkillers after pulling muscles in my back at work last night...which isn't very good as I'm the Manual Handling advisor for the ward....

Tete sounds like you have really been going through it. Your poor Dad and Auntie .Glad that you have got a diagnosis so that your Dad can now be treated and it is good to hear you are feeling more positive. Remember we are here if you want to talk about anything. x

Glad to hear everything got sorted with the OH, and as for the muscle pull I feel sorry for you but theres an abstract sense of comedy to it being the Manual Handling Advisor who pulls the muscle :rotfl:

Jeez Tete, what a rough time you've been having! :( So sorry that you feel like you have to deal with this on your own to a certain extent too, must be awful. Remember that you can come and vent on here whenever you want :) The massage guinea-pigging sounds perfect for you right now, hope it does actually help!

Glad you feel better about the possible job/living situation now Ruby. When do you hear if you've got the job?

Thanks for more info NIM, don't think it'll suit us though as dates are no good and we're really no good on coaches! Will speak to my train mate (who BTW has just been promoted to guard and is getting £30-odd-k a year, who trains were the way to go?!) to get cheap day return tickets and do it all in a day.

If you're so close to the studio will you be going on the tour when it opens Wendz?! :)

GQ Magazine are doing the £20 Kurt Geiger giftcards that Elle were giving away last year, I'm trying to choose between a sensible warm snood and arm warmers or some stupidly high blue velvet shoes! Choices choices! ;)
