Yikes just got back from a festive weekend with the in-laws. OH Dad was in a super sexist Grinch mode, not sure what was up with him. We had some nice times, but some stressful times too. I am really glad to be back home although not looking forward to doing work tomorrow and Thursday. Because my earlier deadline over-ran, and with Christmas coming I seem to be nearly a month behind. So January will be a hard slog. In the meantime a tidal wave of 'life administration' is approaching. Better do something more productive than stroking the cat and eating chocs...
Glad to hear things are going well with everyone. Hi Cinny! Birdie, bless you not even being able to buy numbing spray. Flower that's great about moving house, congrats!! Hope Poppy is well too Wendz.:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
Sometimes you just can't beat quick and easy!
*sigh* I just want to go home and make chocolate and toffee covered pretzels, rocky road bites and peanut brittle! Why must work take up so much of my time?!
Oh and does anyone know if goldfish would be OK without food for a couple of days? Going to get 2 goldfish for BIL for Christmas and will be getting them Friday afternoon/Saturday morning... they'll be OK without food 'till Sunday afternoon won't they? Or will I have to get a little tub of food, give them some then wrap the tub up as an extra pressie?!
ETA: Welcome home Lara, glad you had a nice-ish time with the in-laws!Try not to think too much about the hard-slog of January until Christmas is over!

Ahh I want to come to your house Birdie and watch you make all those lovely things! Hey, I'd love to read your blog - could you PM me the link? Sounds like your crafty stuff is awesome. Just checked Tete's blog and she's done a cool Christmas swap with another blogger. Tete made this lush cushion and got in return a sweet crochet cherry brooch.
I will try to take your advice about denying the true scale of work I have to do until after Christmas. Sounds like the best idea!!:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
I'll send you the link tonight Lara, can't get on Blogger at work- boo!
I read Tete's latest blog post last night, loved the cushion she made, she's so clever!
My crafty stuff is not that great TBH but I try

Well hello, I've just woken up after the work Christmas do last night. Was interesting; one of the sister's got very drunk and was throwing up under a table, one of the HCA's left after the meal because no one was talking to her and then put it all over facebook about how she was being ignored and never felt like she fits in and the Doctors were fascinated by the dancing girls (it was a French theme). One of our Speech and Language therapists really annoyed me - she told me she had been offered a secondment to be a Clinical Psychologist but they wouldn't give it to her because she had no research experience. She knew she was throwing it in my face (it's what I realllllly want to be when I grow up
) and started laughing at me when I told her to leave me alone. She then shouted that she didn't want to do it really, it's just that the money was better than her current job! All in all was a really good night.
Still waiting to hear back from that job I had an interview for about 3 weeks ago. They said it would hopefully be the beginning of this week but I might have to wait till after new year! Should I email them just to see if there's any news yet? I could say I've been away and didn't know if they've been trying to ring me or not?
Lara - wishing you all the best, don't work too hard over Christmas!
Birdie - I love all the little crafty things on your blog, wish I was crafty but I just can't seem to get the hang of anything and make it look half decent!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -
Lara - glad the weekend was nicish. I agree with Birdie, don't worry about the work till after Christmas. Poppy is good thanks, not sleepng well but think she might be teething.
Birdie - i think i would prob feed them but they could prob survive (wouldn't want to risk it though).
Ruby - work do certainly sounds interesting! With the interview if they said could be after new year i would prob wait, although i'd want to know too!
Had a little nosy at Tetes blog, love the christmas swap. Very impressed at the cushion too.
Have managed to ice cake and dusted and hoovered living room and bedroom. Started spare room but hoover kept falling apart grr so gave up for a bit. Might do the bathroom tonight when Poppys in bed.0 -
Sounds like your work do was much fun Ruby!
Hope you hear from the job soon, I'm always a fan of following things up TBH, if it's been 3 weeks then I don't think there's anything wrong with a little e-mail or call to say, 'Thanks for the interview, it looks like a great pleace to work and I was wondering if you had any feedback'. It just shows that you're keen which is a good thing!
Well done for icing the cake Wendz, we've got our icing kit (down to £3 in Sainsbury's and that includes 3 star shaped cutters and a teeny pot of jam!) so I'm supposed to be doing it tonight but I'm scared! I don't get on with icing! Thanks for the fish survival tip too! I think I'll get some food just in case, will be a good idea anyway as I'm not sure if he'll have any at home since his last fish died a couple of months ago.
Tea with the family was fun last night, I cooked my SIL's favourite dish (well, a copy of it since it's from a restaurant) and she had 3 portions so I think it went down well! We played Just Dance afterwards which my parents found hilarious, I haven't played it for a while and I forget just how much fun (but tiring) it is!
Oooh and I got a mega bargain last night in Morrison's! I went to get the Christmas meat and asked at the butcher's counter if they were doing the same joints that they had last year (which they're not-boo!) so I picked up a smallish joint for £12, the butcher man then said that he was reducing a better cut that was twice the size to £14 from £28 if I wanted to pop it in the freezer for a few days so I grabbed that instead! It's huge, about as long as a PC keyboard, we cut it in half, left one half for Christmas dinner then the other half was split again to make 2 more dinners at some point. OH tells me off for dithering and not making decisions quickly enough but had I not dithered there for so long I wouldn't have got that bargain! So there... ditherers unite!!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
I hate icing too. The only thing I've found that helps is rolling it/handling it between two sheets of cling film, I don't know if it's the warmth or the oil in your hands that makes it crack but something seems to.
Glad last night went well for you Birdie.
Grandad seemed to have a good birthday, although he did seem to think he'd just found out about the baby from one of his friend's who had visited him that day, we both looked a bit baffled as we tried to explain we'd told him in person nearly 3 weeks ago. Mum got him some trousers for us to give him, and I made him a little pot of gold (chocolate coins and some gold foil wrapped toffees in a jar with lottery tickets in it) so hopefully he'll win a tenner off that at the weekend.
Excellent bargain Birdie.
Anyone done Martin's 'How Tight Are You' quiz? I only scored 23% - might go some way to explaining why I'm in such a financial hole!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
