  • Morning, hope your day gets better dinah. Look forward to your update, even clearing £7 a day still means your debt is going down and in December I think its pretty impressive!

Had my birthday night out and it was great, was mixing groups of friends but everyone got on, no one got stupid drunk, music was good, happy times! Tonight I'm seeing my best friend before she goes away for 4 months for a ski season :(

Your night sounds comically bad birdie! Glad you saw the funny side

  • Dinah - As archers said, any debt clearing in December is a miracle! Think I might have to dip into the overdraft this month just to get by.

Birdie - Sounds exactly like my christmas do last year...and we're going back to the same place again this year!

Archers - glad you had a nice birthday! I always worry about different groups of friends coming together, I end up worrying about everyone getting on and end up missing all the fun!

Went to the stupid walk in clinic on saturday because I couldn't get to see my own gp. After waiting 2 hours the nurse said that I have viral laryngitis because "you don't get a cough with tonsillitis" but then went on to say that I probably have some kind of upper chest infection as well which would cause the cough...Basically she couldn't be bothered to get me a prescription. If it's no better tomorrow then I will insist that my GP sees me.

Off to brave the cold and take the car in for an MOT. Hope you all have a more interesting day than me!

My £7 is looking like it's in jeopardy. Just realised I need maternity clothes in the sales, a new mattress, the car needs a service and possibly the new cam-belt. And Christmas food. ARGH.

Urgh it never rains but it pours eh?! Not much to suggest re: the clothes since you need them! Try charity shops, you never know what you can pick up for a few quid and chances are they won't have been worn too much! Have you got any friends/family who've recently had babies who can lend you some maternity wear?

Are you covering the full cost of Christmas dinner? Why not suggest something like a pot-luck dinner, everyone can bring a dish to take the strain off a little. Although we cook Christmas dinner for OH's family, his parents give us money to buy the meat as they don't want us to be out of pocket too much; perhaps you could ask some family members to donate certain parts of the meal if they can't bring a dish?! Do lots of prep, whenever you find food in the discounted section, buy it, prepare and par-cook it then freeze it, saves money and time on the day! ;)

Nice to hear you had a nice birthday party Archers! It can be a bit worrying when you mix groups so it's nice when they do get along! We have some different friendship groups who only see each other at our shindigs, they've started to get to know each other now and look forward to seeing everyone when we do get everyone together which is good!

Sorry the walk-in clinic was unsuccessful Ruby, and that you're still ill! Doesn't sound good, hope you're very well wrapped up when you go out.

Feeling a little unsettled today, came in to lots of whispers and rumours about impending restructuring and redundancies... really hope they're restructuring middle management rather than the little people like me :(
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

    Morning all,

Dinah - glad the nuchal results are good, is reasurring for you. This time of year is always expensive isn't it. I wore leggings and loose dresses a lot when i was pregnant so didn't always wear maternity clothes. Hopefully you can get some good stuff in sales.

Birdie - glad you had a laugh at the christmas party, i think the bad food etc makes a christmas party hehe. I am going to watch Polar Express as its free to watch on my love film so can watch it through ps3 on the tv. Poppy will prob get bored but she loved happy feet this weekend. Hope that the redundencies are nothing to do with you Birdie, middle management does tend to make more sense to save money.

Archers - glad you had a good birthday night out.

Ruby - hope you are feeling better soon.

We had a nice weekend. Went to winter wonderland yesterday in Hyde Park with my mum, Dad and sister. Went on the big wheel which is fun and me and my sis went on a ride which we were saying oh this isn't too bad and then went really fast and ended up a bit dizzy. Had a nice hot choc and bratwurst in the Bavarian Hut. Then we went to the science museum for a look round.

This morning we have been to a Christmas party at the baby and toddler group and there was a magician who magiced a fish, rabbit and bird.I was very impressed! Poppy also met Father Christmas, don't think she was too sure.

Mum and dad are bringing the booze and grandad will repay us for the turkey I think, so we're veggies, sides and puddings so it's not too bad. I'm just in a whingey mood today.

A LOT of dizzyness today, thought I was going to faint during my lunchtime walk, sat now watching the monitor swim before my eyes. Hoping some food more substantial than a dairy milk will sort it out.

I do know a few ladies who have had babies lately, but they're all in the 16-18 range, and I'm a 10-12, so it wouldn't really work.

I wouldn't worry about a restructure Birdie, these things usually take forever to work themselves out. Plus if you are pregnant I believe you're a lot safer anyway - here's hoping the cycle works itself out soon if it hasn't already.

    Dinah,

Check out ebay, my boss bought all her pregnancy clothes in a bundle, paid £50 for 20 items and they were really lovely. She re-sold all of them for the same price.

Or try freecycle, it's always worth to put an ad there that you are looking for pregnancy clothes, you never know! Also check out gumtree freebies, I got a huge bag of baby clothes there for my goddaughter for free!

Thanks Kavics, I did look at the ebay bundles, but they seemed to be going for quite a lot I thought. Will spend some more time looking into them.

Now have a headache to add to everything else, looking forward to this day being over. On the plus side only 6 working days till Christmas.
