Aw glad your grandma got a good send of wendz. The last funeral I went to had a baby around Poppys age there and it was lovely, he really cheered everyone up and it's lovely to see family continuing when you say goodbye to someone, if that makes sense.
Just had a dentist appointment so waiting for the next train to work. Found my contract and I do only get SSP so fair enough, feels abit crummy but I know to look more closely in future!
Yay glad you're there safe Zig, the flight is a killer isn't it! We stayed in Hong Kong on the way so that was fine, but the way back we did Cairns-Sydney, 3 hour wait, Sydney-Singapore, 1 hour wait, Singapore-London, 8 hour wait for the megabus home. Worst day ever! We cracked after two hours of stinking like tramps at St Pancras and got a train home. So Jealous of the warm weather, you've gone at the perfect time.

Well it has been a month of very hard work. Plus we did some good DIY on the kitchen - laid beading around the floor and changed the dead and leaking tap. Plus put back up the energy monitor. Considering I have been doing uni work every weekend for the last 6 weeks i think that's ok... Think I will roll all these over to December and make them a 2011 challenge.:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
Good to hear you're there safe and sound Zig, would love to say I'm not jealous but I'd be lying
I'm glad it went well yesterday Wendz, and lovely that everyone knew who Poppy was. Hope you are ok x
My November targets were pretty rubbish actually but I cleared the CC which was my most important one, and I have been able to get a headstart on clearing the next bit of debt. My deadline is the end of April to clear everything apart from the 0% CC which is £1450, I have another year to clear that before the deal ends so am going to concentrate on getting some savings built up and pay it off gradually at the same time. I actually feel like the finish line is in sight after three stupid years! Please keep me on the straight and narrow threadies!

Oops didn't mean to post that quite yet...
Zig! So glad to hear you have arrived safely. What a great achievement to have made it! I hope you have a good time exploring and take it easy on yourself as getting to know a new place is hard work. ((((Huge hugs))))
Wendz, so glad your Grandma's funeral was as nice as possible. Glad to hear she was talking about Poppy a lot too. Hope you're feeling okay and not too sad. You have done amazingly well with your goals!:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -

Archers - thats a bit rubbish about the sick pay.
Lara - you have done pretty well with your goals, at least you have got started with lots of them.
Shrimpy - good luck with paying off the debt and well done for paying off the cc.
We went swimming this morning, Poppy loved it was squealing away. Will definately try and take her more often.
Was payday for me yesterday and actually managed to get to end of last month without going into savings so leaves me in good shape for this month with all the christmas present buying.0 -
Glad to hear poppy enjoyed swimming Wendz!! do you just take babies and hold them in the water and splash around etc? (sorry but i dont know the first thing about babies!)
Zig I'm so happy for you! well done for making it there safely! you better keep us updated though about all of your adventures! Are you going to do a blog or anything? are you going to work out there or just party central?
Dinah thats good about the tax thing, it just suddenly hit me that you might have a massive tax bill coming and hadn't planned for it (silly me of couse you plan!) I'm a bit anxious at the moment because christmas feels like its going to be expensive! I love buying things for other people and thats not really a problem im just torn sometimes between spending and saving. I have so many long term money goals (like buy a house etc) and it feels like spending loads is a backwards step but then the reality is so far awa anyway.. but with OH looking for work at the moment we need as much fall back cash as possible.. argh! am I even making sense? December is basicaly going to be a money pit I think and I will have to write that off..! I do have a week off at christmas though and am sooo looking forward to it! does anyone else have extra days (birdie doesnt your place shut down?) over christmas?
As an aside.. has anyone read rich dad poor dad by the way? I've heard about it before but then I saw someone reading it on the train yesterday and it re-twigged my memory...
Birdie how did you do in the re-sit? Shrimpie have you done your aat exams yet? I passed some of my work exams last week yey!!0 -
My last day is the 20th, and I go back on the 3rd, so I'm very excited, especially since NIMs dad booked tickets last night to come celebrate with us, so it's going to be a big family Christmas with mine and his all muddled together. His brother might be coming too but don't know yet. Mum asked what she could bring on Christmas day and I just said 'chairs'!
I was actually watching a programme about Rich Dad Poor Dad and those type of books and courses yesterday. It was called something like 'who wants to be a millionaire?'. It was really bizarre, room fulls of people slapping their thighs while proclaiming 'I have a millionaire brain', and lots of people who came across either a bit unrealistic or downright delusional that tehy will be a millionaire in 7 years, yet were currently being decalred bankrupt due to the cost of the courses/were hugely in debt due to them. I actually found it a bit sad especially the lady who spent an hour a day chanting to the universe to bring her money. If she spent that hour a day applying herself to making money surely she'd be better off. We'd all love a passive income of £3000 a month, but surely rubbing your earlobes and chanting to the universe isn't going to get you there, you actually have to do something?Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Poppy swimming sounds adorable Wendz, it must be so amazing doing everything with her for the first few times! Your posts do make me quite broody!
Tink you sound a bit stressed for Christmas, is it feasible to set yourself a bit of a budget? Even a generous one, that way you can spend what you want within reason and know its ok, if that makes any sense? Christmas is such a hard one to predict though, I usually end up doing a few unplanned meet ups with people I haven't seen for ages, but its hard to hold money back for this in case it doesn't happen. I find it very hard to say no at Christmas, but then again I still get child-excited at it so I think its ok to let loose a little.
I haven't even booked my AAT exams yet, am still ploughing through the assignments. Really want to get my driving out of the way to free up some brain space!
Dinah your Christmas sounds lovely, is this the first time NIM's dad has seen the house?
If you don't see me on here for the next hour or so it'll be because I'm busy rubbing my earlobes and talking nicely to the universeBarclaycard [STRIKE]£7,296.35[/STRIKE] £6134.99 - MBNA [STRIKE]£4,182.88[/STRIKE] £3267.08 - O/draft [STRIKE]£569.31[/STRIKE] £413.59 - Capital One [STRIKE]£1477.55[/STRIKE] £1451.44Total debt [STRIKE]£12048.54[/STRIKE] £11267.10 6% paid0 -
It's the first time he's seen it mostly finished - he saw it on our wedding day as that's where NIM stayed but it was in a much worse state then than it is now.
