I did want a tea length dress to start with, but now I'm coming round to the idea of a longer one but no where near BFG! I will definitely be trying on a massive merrangue thing just because I can hehe. I'm also not looking forward to having all attention on me for the day, I'm quite a shy person to be honest and don't take compliments well! Guess it's something I'm going to have to get over.

Birdie, I'm worried about December money wise as well. I only have OH's present to get and a couple of little bits and pieces for like my neighbour and my future MIL. But then it's 5 weeks till pay day again and people always want to go out, and the dreaded work christmas meal as well...Better start looking at the budget now!

You sound like me Ruby, I freaked out at the idea of being the centre of attention. Luckily (or not) I didn't have to worry as all I heard afterwards was 'oh it was a beautiful day - what is up with NIMs mother though?!'

I wish I'd tried on a meringue and relaxed and enjoyed the process a bit more, I was so worried people would think I was an embarrassing bridezilla I turned to a wreak when anyone asked me a direct question on the wedding for fear having an opinion would make them think I was a diva.

Christmas is costing us around £120, plus probably another £40 for food (mum and dad providing booze, grandad paying for turkey and crackers). It doesn't have to be a big spend to be special.

Theres a load of crackers in the attic, he doesnt need to get any.

Do you need a new outfit?

Probably not really, but don't really have anything to wear since the whole 'dye the green bridesmaid dress navy' plan when up in smoke! Will dig something out, just a bit disappointed as we've all agreed to get dressed up and I wanted to wear my wedding shoes and of course I've got nothing to go with them! :o

Is the wedding far away? Could you just stay the night of not the one before? Can you get rooms cheaper on hotels.com or similar rather than booking direct.

The wedding is 50 miles away and we've already got the hotel at a discounted rate, I daren't not stay the night before in case the weather's bad and we can't get though as it's in the middle of nowhere! We'll be eating dinner in the bistro rather than the expensive restaurant though!

Can you not have a chat with OH about presents this year?

I think we might have to, we had said £150 limit but I might suggest we cut it down even more, the wellies OH wants and 'my' Kindle are about £80 each so I hope he'll be happy with one big present and a couple of little bits. We've cut down on family presents but I really struggle with the idea that we haven't got 'enough' for everyone. I'm going to have to make a list of what I've got and what I have to get and make it all clear! :)

I really don't know what to do for the wedding present though, going to do a pretty frame like I did for my friends (I actually know that SIL will appreciate it, she's still got the decorated heart I made for their engagement gift hanging up!) but not sure what else to get them...

I take it they don't have a wedding list?

Try Etsy, just type in wedding present/gift and see if anything strikes your fancy. It's nice to get some thoughtful and unique presents rather than just lots of kitchen appliances (says she, who views her stand mixer as the second best thing to come out of our wedding day!)

I can see the reasoning behind the hotel, sensible to reconsider the things you can cut back on.

I've always had that enough feeling too, I'm really glad mum suggested the one present each thing this year. I think Christmas is a bit different when you only have adults around the table, we need some little feet in our house again, make it all exciting and sparkly.

Couldn't agree more, it feels so flat without kids!

They've just asked for money instead of gifts, they've been living together for 5 years so they've got everything, but I don't like the thought of giving my big brother cash! Will have a look on Etsy though, thanks :)
