Ooh Birdie your wedding shoes were beauts, def got to wear those again!
I've been looking at etsy for xmas presents this year, there's some gorgeous stuff on there.
Do you normally get paid early in December then? This is my first time on a monthly salary so I'm not sure how it works. Must be a total pain if you're not really controlled.
You're all so good at gifts, we've got £7 left to spend on a friends birthday tomorrow (so no online ordering!) She'll be 23, pretty quirky, allergic to nail varnish (thats what everyone suggests!) and no jewllery as she works in a jewellers! She's an sbsolute hoarder so doesn't really need any bath or trinkety stuff. She's theatrical. Already got her fancy alcohol and a lucky glass cat. Any ideas at all!?

If she's theatrical I'd go to accessorize or somewhere, try to get her a quirky hair accessory type thing.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Agree with Dinah's suggestion, or a hat or a big sparkly brooch or bright scarf or something like that.
I'm not sure if I'll get paid early in December, we used to be on 4-weekly pay and usually got paid a week early but now we get paid on the 20th so I don't know if they reckon this is early enough and leave it as is. Hmmm, will have to check my pay slip next week to see if it says anything! I don't like getting paid early TBH as it makes the January pay date seem soooooo far away, everyone at work would be on stale bread and water by the time we got paid!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
I was going to suggest a scarf too, probably because I have so many myself! Our payday is the 28th but it doesn't get brought forward in Dec, although in my last job it did. I'm glad too, January is depressing enough without being super skint to boot!Barclaycard [STRIKE]£7,296.35[/STRIKE] £6134.99 - MBNA [STRIKE]£4,182.88[/STRIKE] £3267.08 - O/draft [STRIKE]£569.31[/STRIKE] £413.59 - Capital One [STRIKE]£1477.55[/STRIKE] £1451.44Total debt [STRIKE]£12048.54[/STRIKE] £11267.10 6% paid0

We are on a £20 budget too for each other, although i cheat a bit by also getting his stocking presents. I think cutting to just the main pressie you both want and a couple of small ones would help.
We always get our december pay early so makes jan really long. I only get a weeks maternity pay end of jan as it runs out so we have a couple of months on one wage eek...not that we will be getting much more when i'm back at work.0 -
Afternoon all
All this talk about presents and turkey pizza has got me all Christmassy
I'm very (un)fortunate that I have no friends or extended family to buy for so I really only have to sort out 7 presents! I buy all the toiletries and gift sets from Boots on Boxing Day. Sad, I know, but it must save me hundreds of pounds throughout the year - example BF "It's my mum's birthday tomorrow...." Me "Let's look in the present pile"
I used to work at Boots while I was at uni. In my first year, I didn't realise they did the sales so early - so I spent a fortune! Not anymore!
So I'm lucky my December will be like any other month - apart from the £100 spent on Boxing Day.
With regards to buying a new dress - don't deny yourself everything, otherwise you could feel like you are missing out and then fall off the MSE wagon. If you treat yourself, make sure you make a deal to not buy anything unnecessary the following month for example. There's always room for a few new dress in a MSE life

Well been a surprising and good day here. We got a belated wedding present from my Mum and Dad's friends. I mean I've known them all my life but they've never even met Paul or anything. So sweet they sent us a £50 Next gift card! So Paul says because we don't need anything for the house I can have it all towards my clothes fund. Yipee :j I am down to 3 pairs of trousers and no winter coat so am desperate for a few new bits. However, this time I am *determined* to buy it all at the same time so at least some things match / go together (not like normal).
Then, someone on my cul de sac has just let off a massive display of fireworks, what a treat!! They were blimmin better than the council's Guy Fawkes onesI love fireworks. Paul said he saw a hearse there earlier, they must be having a wake, East-end knees up style. I am sad for them, but that was a great send-off. It's lasted about half an hour!
Didn't quite manage to get my work done today, but my girlie night out has been cancelled as my friend has flu. So lots of time this weekend to do extra work. I am even hoping tomorrow the kitchen will be finished - just got to sort out the beading and the leaking tap.
Ruby, don't worry about dress shopping. Remember there are loads of great dresses in the department stores. I saw one I absolutely loved after I had already bought my dress and it was a quarter of the price (even after my dress was a sample at 60% off). Also I saw on loads of blogs people bought prom dresses in white or cream (again after I bought my dress already :rotfl:). So there are ways to get sleek styles and keep the prices low too
It is a bit overwhelming on the day to have so many people to talk to, but the atmosphere is so nice and full of love, and not intimidating at all.
Greenie I salute you. Have a few twirly Martins :money: :money: :money: I have a present stash but am definitely not that organised:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -

I wish! I spent ALL DAY number crunching and working out the costs for the most complicated programme ever from now until July 2014 (by which time if I haven't found a new job, I will have DIED from STRESS) - this is in between being a counsellor for all our students ringing up to ask for extensions for their work and telling me their sob stories in great detail - only to get an email from my boss at ten past five saying "What you did today was great, but it doesn't tally with what I have for income, can we look at it again on Monday?":eek: I'm ready to run away with the circus
Today has been good though, new running PB and met my lil 'niece' and her mammy loved the blanket so all good
Congrats CMD, I didn't know you couldn't drive! Do they still let learners drive about on their own in Ireland?
Such a lovely send-off LaraI want people crying and wailing at my funeral though - none of this celebration of life stuff hehe!
Hope everyone else is well, I'm off to my leaba, totally exhausted!!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
