I've been told that the first fortnight of new babyness is all hectic and exhausting, so maybe she'd appreciate you not popping by for a little while until she's a bit more settled.... that makes you sound really thoughtful and spares your fingers :D

I agree here! I was home 9 hours after giving birth and when I got home my house was full of people. I pretty much had visitors everyday for the first three weeks - it was very exhausting and i just wanted to tell everyone to go away :rotfl:

Well I overspent my glasses budget by £64 too! My prescription went up absolutely loads, I'm like -7 and -7.5. Yikes. Got a really nice frame though and I upgraded my lenses a bit. Excited about next week now.

Sorry to hear bout the car spends Dinah, but if it needs doing... Also, it must be nice not putting it onto a cc, even if you're not clearing so much debt as last month. And health is more important than anything :)

Tete, the blanket is *gorgeous* I absolutely love that wool (yarn :D). Your friend is going to be so delighted. Any chance of a bigger one for me? :p

After last night's panic I actually logged on the online banking and saw we're doing better than I feared. Not great, not awful. I have managed to overpay-off an account by £58 though. I *think* I have a weekend at home this weekend, if so my plan is to finish the ironing, and list some more on ebay, try to offset the insurance cost so the money we've made from other places that I've already cleared doesn't just vanish again. I still don't think we've got a cats chance of making the £104 this month, but I would be reasonably pleased with paying off £50 a day given the other large costs and the best rest. Does put the target date in jeopardy though.

It's natural to have good months and bad months Dinah, don't sweat it, if you're *only* paying off an extra £50 a day that's still fan-!!!!!!!-tastic! :)

I was on my course yesterday; went down on Tuesday night and came back last night, was a nightmare for a country bumpkin like me to navigate trains and tubes in rush hour... I'd have a breakdown if I had to commute like that every day, I don't know how you city girls do it! :o I've come into work today to find that my desk has moved, although I'm still next to a window so I can't complain too much. More people to spy on what I'm doing which isn't great, might have to do more work!

Sorry about the test Shrimpy, I'm sure you'll pass next time, get back on that horse! OH's 2nd test is next month I think (he's not told me the date for some reason), I hope he passes although I don't really see the point as he won't drive my car and hates driving anyway!

It was the fingerless KG gloves I wanted with the Elle discount, was disappointed to lose out! The little purse I ordered for my Mum arrived yesterday though and it's nicer than I thought it would be, very soft and a nice colour, hope she likes it! Kind of want one for myself now :o

Tete, the blanket is lovely, I hope the baby likes it! Love the idea of 'giving your friend some space' for a few weeks so you can finish the second one ;) Oh and please make Greenie's R2D2 hat, I need to see this! :D

Nice to see you popping in Flower! :D I think when we have a baby I'll be begging people not to visit at odd times, we'll have a 'meet the baby' afternoon where everyone can come round, have a look and leave me alone again! ;)

Why won't he drive your car? I would have thought the best way for him to get some practice in and pass the test would be for him to have some out of lesson practice. I passed after 12 lessons, but thats only because I drove mums car absolutely everywhere in between.

We have been out about in my car a bit in the summer, but he hates driving it and keeps making excuses not to now. It's too small and clunky for him. I think that driving instructors really ought to teach in little 10 year-old no-frills cars, how many people get a brand new easy-to-drive-turns-itself-back-on-if-you-stall Mazda as their first car?!

He does like the finer thing does your Mr Birdie. I agree on the no frills cars, but I bet fewer students would go to the instructors with the ropey looking cars than the ones with the trendy minis.

PJs sounds so much classier than silky nighty, jeans and flip flops. The test guy got in the car with the ominous words 'I remember you'. Every time I took a bend I had to put one hand over my chest to stop from falling out the nightie!

I'd forgotten you did it twice.

And the reason you wore your nightie...?

OH certainly is a snob, no idea where it came from! It drives me mad, a car gets us from a-b, we don't have to have a brand new all singing all dancing speed machine and we definitely can't afford one! I don't think he realises that with big fancy cars come big insurance, tax and petrol bills too!
