Sounds like you are being reasonable about the situation Cinny, up to them how they act.

Aww Zig, will be sad leaving people but bet you will make some great new friends.

Glad things are going well with you Flower.

Have managed to do lots of surveys today so this weeks target is coming along nicely. Very close to payout on a few with vouchers which will be useful!

    Afternoon all,

Birdie, I had exactly the same issue with Elle discounts, even worse because the site crashed two nights in a row, the first night I had everything I wanted, the second night it had sold out so I chose different items, the third night the discount had been pulled! Was it the knitted fingerless gloves you wanted? Me too :(

While I'm complaining I may as well confess that I failed my driving test today - ooops! I hadn't told anyone I was taking it, not even OH. The plus side is that I don't have to reply to lots of messages asking how it went, the down side is that I'm not getting any sympathy!

Its wrong to console myself by buying shoes, must not buy shoes, must not buy shoes....

Cinny, such a difficult situation with your brother, being pretend-nice is one thing but if you don't get the same courtesy back its nigh on impossible. Perhaps a bit of space will benefit you all, you're right to try and not dwell on it as it will just make it feel like more of a 'thing' when you do see them again, which you will.

  • Hi all,

Sorry to hear about the driving test :( Doesn't matter how many times you take it, as long as you pass and are safe :) I passed my test on the first attempt and then wrote my car off 8 months later! So, statically, you are safer than me! :p

Thanks for all the comments on the cupcakes. They've all gone now :(

  • GreenSaints-just wanted to say your cupcakes are beautiful-i'm surprised they were eaten as they look far too good to be eaten! my other halfs sister made 100 cupcakes for their nieces 18th, and they were barely touched because everyone thought they were just decorations!

shrimpy-sorry about the driving test-its very depressing failing, because you get so pumped up beforehand thinking 'omg, no more driving lessons after this!!' etc and then when it doesn't go your way it's a bit pants, but make sure you get back on the horse and try again-i know so many people who get properly put off by failing, and its such a shame since they've come so far!

Cinny-just wanted to say i think you are handling the brother situation very well. My brother and i are very close, and he started going out with a complete cow (who incidently dated my friend for about 2 yrs before hand, and only had split with him a matter of weeks before going with my brother). Anyway, i always had to bite my tongue about her-i hated how she belittled him in front of people, and was just generally a 'i can do whatever i want but anything you want to do has to be run by me first' sort of person. I eventually burst and told him exactly what i thought when we were arguing about something else-not ideal!! anyway, we ended up falling out for two weeks(the longest we have ever fallen out) and i was gutted about the situation, but i was still glad he knew how i felt, even if it didn't come out great. Anyway, he came and made up with me when he felt ready, and when he did break up with her i was the first person he came to, and i feel like i was pretty supportive, even though i was secretly glad (obviously not at seeing him upset). I think its one of those situations where the person needs to just make their own mistakes, and you just have to be the bigger person who offers support when its needed-really glad you stood up for yourself though :-)

woooow mega post for a lurker lol, sorry!

Sorry to hear about the driving test Shrimpy, was it your first one? My Oh failed his first couple so stopped telling everyone including me he had it, he passed his fourth one I think and is a more confident driver than me and I have been driving 6 years longer!

    Hi eternal sunshine!

Hi all! Been bobbing in and out but can't remember everything. Greenie your cakes were amazing, so professional looking!! I bought a big icing nozzle around May and haven't used it yet but you've inspired me :)

Shrimpy don't be too downhearted - I failed mine about three times before I finally passed - on silly things that happen all the time in daily driving (by other drivers, not always me!) but as long as you're determined you'll get there. Have you got a car you can practise in outside of lessons? Do this as much as possible, especially with the gloomy weather setting in. You'll get there :)

Very pleased to say I've resisted the Office offer (so far)...

My friends have a large print like that on their living room wall Lara, all complimentary colours and fonts with the writing going in all directions with all sorts on like their wedding date, daughter's name, honeymoon location, the pub they were in when they met, their favourite activities - it's so interesting to look at and a real talking point too.

I've had a disaster - my friend's baby was born this morning and I've done 10/100 squares for his blanket! He was bluddy well EARLY! Wondering how long I can put off a visit without looking rude :D My hands will be like claws! You can see my other blanket here if you're interested :)

Hope everyone else is well :) Wendz, I think of Poppy every time armistice day is mentioned :)

  • Love the blanket Tete! What a fabulous achievement and a lovely, unique gift. Is the new baby blanket going to look the same?

Is that crochet? Or knitting? See how crafty I am! :p Basically could you make me an R2D2 hat that's in my craft book?! :p

Sorry about the driving test Shrimpy, I think most people fail the first one, I had a colleague who failed 18 times - I really think there should be a maximum cap as clearly some people are not spatially aware.

Had my flu jab today, very tired and achey now, NIM came home to find me asleep.

I've been told that the first fortnight of new babyness is all hectic and exhausting, so maybe she'd appreciate you not popping by for a little while until she's a bit more settled.... that makes you sound really thoughtful and spares your fingers :D

Got the new tyre on the car today, £66 which I thought was decent value. Forgot to ask them to swap the front and back tyres over though which is a real pain.

Very concerned about this month's targets. Between my bed rest fortnight, and the £700ish (assuming nothing is wrong) we need to spend on the car insurance/MOT and tyre I'm a bit concerned we're not going to actually clear anything at all in the whole month, just stand still.
