Sounds lovely Wendz. Can't top Birdie's suggestions, but I'd also suggest a scented candle, or perhaps one of those little oil burners for essential oils?
I'm also really struggling with my sister's present. She has her own handmade soap business so anything like that is out of the question! She also makes her own lip butter, massage bars and fizzy bath bombs. (On the upside I get great smellies a few times a year for free) For her birthday last month I got her jewellery. She has a blimmin Kindle, and you can't buy book presents for other people's Kindles - shame. She is just about to move house, so something housey would be good, but I've only got £10 to spend. Any ideas? She's really crafty and makes things like patchwork quilts for herself, so she has quite a lot of nice house stuff already.

How about making her a crafty kit? If she does patchwork then check out charity shops for nice clothes in interesting fabrics that can be cut into squares to be used on a quilt etc.
Oooh or how about a personalised 'likes' print... errr, like this! I did this for OH's birthday card (downloaded some fun fonts and muddled it together on publisher) and it looked fab and he really liked it. I'm sure you can get it printed poster size in a copy shop for a few quid and stick it in a frame et voila, a super personal homey gift!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Hi all, sorry I've been a bit AWOL, busy 'relaxing'. Thankfully the tablets have kicked in and thats over now. To celebrate last night I deep cleaned the kitchen, made 2 quiches, a dozen cupcakes, Melanzane alla Parmigiana, and finally made my Christmas pud with the fruit which has been soaking for 3 weeks. I had to steam it for 6 hours standing on an upturned saucer in a pan.... after 3 hours all the colour had come out the saucer! Tonight I hope to make the last 3 quiches (still using up the MS eggs) and clean the lounge. Then I will try to put all the November goals lists on the front page (sorry I keep forgetting)
Dining room has cleared somewhat of the ebay clutter, although 2 things still haven't been picked up. Think I need to file non-paying bidders on them, although would really have prefered the money and the free space.
Those cupcakes are fab Greenie, they look positively professional.
I also think you were right to stand up for yourself Cinny, and it's not like you were rude and calling her names, you can't be forced to like someone. Sooner or later he'll realise that a relationship which ostracises him from his family should be setting alarm bells ringing. If he otherwise gets on with his family and respects them, then there has to be something in the opinion of people who aren't addled with hormones.
How about a nice print for your sister Lara? I get a lot of housey stuff off Etsy, I got mum a limited edition Gorjuss print a few years ago and then suddenly her stuff was all over the place so it's probably worth a few bob more now if she were ever to sell it. ETA: Birdie's ideas are better, listen to her instead.

I third (I think!) the print idea, Lara! What about a kindle skin? Or just buy her a book anyways and put 'Keep it real, b*tch' in the cover. With or without calling her a female dog depending on your relationship!
Nice to hear you're relaxing in the typical Dinah fashion! Great going on using those eggs up too. :money:Will not look at Office shoes. I have Uggs, heeled ankle boots and spotty wellingtons. I need no more. No more.
Birdie, I forgot to say, if you're buying your OH that Rock shirt you might want to look at the US website. They've got 20% off their tees atm, plus there's a $5 off a $30 spend code flying around, if you end up buying the two. 9 times out of 10, even with $10 shipping it's cheaper to buy from the US.If he otherwise gets on with his family and respects them, then there has to be something in the opinion of people who aren't addled with hormones.
It did shock him to hear my Grandad tell him there was something lacking in their relationship, like a spark that every other couple has. I'm trying not to dwell on it anymore, but honestly it was so beyond nice to not have her over last night I'm not much bothered right now! I'll keep on inviting them over, but it's completely up to them.0 -
Greenie those cupcakes are stunning!
Hope you feel better soon Archers, I've been feeling rubbish for the past few weeks and it's driving me mad. There seems to be tons of bugs about!
Wendz, how about chocolate?Lovely idea for a present!
Lara, your present dilemma is more difficult! I'd say the print is definitely a good idea though! She sounds a hard person to buy for!
Wow Dinah! That's relaxing?! Sounds productive thoughI can't look at the shoes either, as tempting as it is..
18 days until I leave. Getting properly nervous now! But can't wait to leave too. I met up with my two amazing guy mates last night (they've been so good to me since the break up, love them to bits) and even though we're seeing each other again before I leave, I did get a lump in my thoat as we said bye so I know I'm gonna be an emotional wreck when I have to actually say bye. They're gonna love it..!
