Well, have had quite a nice day
- was being really lazy this morning & eventually finished the book I started reading on the Kindle (the one downside I find to them is that you can't tell how much you've left to read - I know it gives a % figure but if you've no idea if the book is 200 or 500 pages, it doesn't really help a lot!).
Eventually dragged myself along to a local garden centre (I got some fantastic vouchers for my birthday from worka few weeks ago - it was a big birthday:o) and bought a few plants. Have spent the past couple of hours pottering around outside (cut grass & weeded a bit) and have got them all planted up in some of my many pots (replacing some plants that were definitely well past their best!) - patio looking rather lovely again *sigh*
Stopped at the Co*op for a few bits - decided it wasn't worth the £5 fuel  to Mr A as I really didn't need a lot and, although it's generally a bit more expensive, I do only buy what I do need when I go there. Managed to get Wharbur*ton's Thins (which I love;)) on offer, ham 1/2 price and diet coke's still BOGOF so that's lunches sorted :T..... but some Mag*num ice creams (my favourite;)) did manage to sneak into the basket!:o (they were 1/2 price tho!). Total was £12.30 so really pleased with that - if I'd gone to Mr A, I'd def have spent more as I always feel I need to justify the fuel spend IYKWIM.
Might have to put the hot water on and have a soak - did a fair bit of bending etc and I'll suffer tomorrow if I don't (I did say it was a big birthday .... didn't I!:rotfl:)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Beeping beep .... trying to fill out a job application (due tomorrow - only just found out about it) and it's one of these portal things.
I do know my employment history reasonably well (sadly lost cv when old pc died - help!) but I'm sorry BUT do they really think that people know the day of the month they started and finished in each post? ........ especially going back of long periods of time!
Thinking I may just have to do them all from the 1st to 30th/31st and put a comment in the "supporting info" section that I don't know exact dates ......

Yup .... there's 3 drop downs (dates, months, years) and I've tried just selecting the month & year and when I go to save, it comes up with an "error - complete mandatory fields"
*sigh* - honestly, I'm pretty sure that I'm not alone in not knowing what specific date I started a job 10 years ago - let alone the ones that were 20 years ago!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Putting the first of the month is accepted practice if you can't recall the exact dates, where I work. I have sifted hundreds of applications and I promise it isn't the sort of thing to draw attention to in the additional info - it's the sort of thing you might say, if it is brought up at interview but in my experience, they are more interested in asking about more substantive issues. Don't fret, concentrate on the substantive attributes and skills you have.
Good luck!

Fab - thanks SL
TBH I'm struggling a bit with it as it's years since I've filled a job application out - however, my role has changed substantially recently and I do really need to move.
One of the reasons I've stayed so long is that it's a short commute (15 mins) so I can get home at lunchtime for the dog!
Sadly the nearest big town is around an hour away so that's not really feasible anyway as due to health reasons I have now, I wouldn't be able to do a big commute anymore.
There's very rarely decent jobs advertised around here so really need to "bite the bullet" if I can - although I'm sure everyone else will be thinking the same thing! There's usually 100s of people going after each post .... but I need to stop that thought putting me off applying in the first place or I'll never get one!
Off to DMs shortly to visit Maisie & will probably be spending the rest of the day on the application!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

When I am sifting, I look for a candidate that goes beyond what they did and conveys how they worked and the outcome or business benefit against the skills or attributes they are conveying. So an example might be,
"I identified that a process (whatever) was disjointed and duplicated effort and by bringing relevant colleagues together to improve the efficiency by streamlining, our productivity has improved and everyone knows they contributed to this" - you are conveying you can see the problems, that you are a leader and team worker and that you are able to take the initiative and improve the profitability of the company in one sentence. Whatever you are going for, try and think what, how, outcome (benefit) - it is the current way of presenting evidence in CVs
Good luck
