Ohhhh I'm waffling - sorry - I'm really tired and worried about Maisie's op tomorrow ....the obsession with figures tends to take hold when I'm stressed:o

Hi Rising,
Just to say, I had similar dilemma on the dog walker side. I went with the nice lady who was cheaper and does a couple of half hours which are more play than walk, rather than the expensive lady I didn't like as much who would have done a longer walk but I would only have been able to afford once a week.
2 days not having to dash back and forth at lunch do pay for themselves for me in saved petrol and also reduced stress too - I make up for a bit of guilt over short-changing the dog on her walks at lunch time by going a bit further than usual at tea time on those days, and she seems to be happy enough with this arrangement.
Hugs for the worry, hope you have had the news she is out of surgery already and the stitches heal fast so you can get her home soon

Awwww SOT I never knew you lurked over here
I think I will go with the 2 x play sessions ...... thanks for helping me make the decision:D
It is a rush getting home & back but the real problem is the parking at work is a nightmare - fine if you're in early (which I am;)) but it's bloomin' impossible to find a space if you go out at lunchtime & I do really stress the whole way back that I won't find somewhere to park & get back in on time:(
TBH I only manage 1/2 hour at home so we have a play in the garden (10 mins), I eat lunch (10 mins) and then a quick round the block so she'd probably get more exercise than that anyway (and I'd only have indigestion 3 days a week instead of 5:rotfl:)
Also, the walker takes the dogs out for 60 - 90 mins walk (excl pick up/drop off time) - so you do get value for money for your £10 - but I think she'd struggle with that for a while as she needs to get over the op & she's not at full fitness anyway having had puppies just before I got her.
I may have to re-think come winter time when it's harder to get a decent walk during the week .....
Luckily it's the same guy who does both and he has a customer in the village where I live whose dogs he walks everyday so he's here anyway. He came over last week to meet Maisie & they got on really well.

 I snuck over when you were getting Maisie to see the picture and have been lurking since.
Similar problem here re parking at work. I have the dog "walker" three days a week just at the moment but am very lucky that on the other two days I now usually manage to work from home one day and half and half the other or the ex OH can sometimes manage to cover a day for me.
My policy on the worst days in winter this year was shortish walk but then a solid 20 to 30 mins of my undivided attention, be that playing or clicker training or whatever. It seems to be good enough to keep her happy. She is only small but very active and bright and a nightmare to live with when she has been really short changed on the walk / attention front.
Plenty of time before winter to decide on a plan for then though.

We go 3 miles 1st thing in the morning (although Maisie probably manages at least 4 with all the running back & forward), come home & have breakfast and then have a good ball throwing session in the garden before I leave ...... then a 5 mile walk after work (again she probably does at least a mile more), followed by another ball throwing session (and the smaller walks at lunchtime & just before bedtime) ....... and that's her at only partial fitness:eek::eek:
Def need a plan of action for winter (will start thinking now as I can't believe it's June this week already!:p) as we've not really got safe off-lead in the dark places near me IYKWIM - morning walk is up to the next village, through a farmers field (pitch black) and evening walks are in the woods - ohhhhh deeaaarrrrr!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Pleased it's all over .... been a sleepless few nights:o Spoke to DM earlier and she's dopey but seems OK:) (wish I could go & give her a cuddle but it's just too far during the week) - roll on the weekend!
She's to have a check-up on Tuesday and then go back after 12 days to make sure everything's all OK *sigh* - it's going to be a long couple of weeks without her here.
The cats are in their element tho' (we are having a few errrrr cat chasing issues:() - they'll get the shock of her life when she comes back:rotfl:
I will warn you .... I can get a bit obsessive with figures / budgets at times and can rant on a bit about them- it's usually when I'm really stressed (I do have mild OCD and "playing" with figures seems to help me cope for some unknown reason!)
I *think* I've made some progress (anyone?) and don't think I'm quite as obsessed with them as I used to be - I try to stick to the weekly pots update and the odd SOA here & there and write about other things in here as wellGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
