Thanks beanie
I love that word "togs"
Horrid day at work today.. redundancy of friends, had a few tears, really hoping they can be re-employed in other sections. Morale is very low...
Although, it makes me that bit more determined to get myself in a position where I don't have to worry if it happens to OH or myself.. I think once I get under £100k on the mortgage i'll be a bit happier.
Hope everyone's ok xxMortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -
Afternoon
Hope everyone is doing great xx
Wore my "new" togson Friday to the afternoon tea. Really enjoyed it and a great chance to catch up with friends.. it was a bit expensive for tea, sandwiches and cake but you've got to live a bit haven't you. I'll definitely be doing it again at some point, maybe for a birthday treat if OH will go..
We've not done much else this weekend so I've had a little time to catch up with some admin jobs and get on top of the surveys again.- All spreadsheets reconciled and money moved to correct accounts
- OH had a cheque from PPI claim - after fees he'll get about £250 :T he did it without my input or I would have done it myself using this site and not paid fees! But he's tried and that's the main thing.. he asked what I wanted for my birthday (next month) and I've suggested we get Hive fitted :rotfl: is that a weird birthday present? - he's got enough money for it now!!
- £10 amazon voucher ordered from Mysurveys - now closing this one as i'm bored of the technical issues. Every time I log in or do a survey it logs me out again, i'm sure some of my points haven't been added on.
- received the £15 voucher from Surveyhead so I've closed that account too, keep getting screened out - it's annoying!
- bought some tea infusers from eb*y £2, ones in the shop were £9.50 - OH got given some loose leaf tea from Fortnum and Mason, no less, and we would like to use it up
We've just been catching up with a bit of TV and watched a couple of episodes of "Eat Well for Less". I'm shocked at how much people spend on food, £355 a week for the one family! That's more than some people earn a week..
I thought I could cook before I joined MSE and Slimming World but I realised I used a lot of jarred sauces/oven chips/processed meat until I learnt you could make stuff a lot cheaper yourself. Turns out it's a lot healthier too :T
I really hope the programme helps a few families out!Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -
Hi - that is really spooky, I just got the email notification that you had replied to my post as I was reading yours and about to reply with a comment about Hive!
Yes we had it installed last autumn and I love it. I suppose its partly the geek in me - being able to control the heating from a phone or ipad, but I also think it saves money as we now turn off the heating when going out and then turn it on just before we come home. We were terrible before for just leaving it on its normal programme when we went out so that we didn't come home to a cold house.
I did see a news article recently and a chap had some device that showed the temperature in each individual room in his house and they could all be controlled separately - maybe a step too far but I might look into that!
So all in all I would recommend Hive although I have to confess I'm not too sure I'd have been very impressed if DH had bought it for me for my birthday!0 -
Thanks for replying Pushkin :rotfl: maybe I telepathically called to you...
sounds quite positive!
We were discussing birthday presents the other day as i'm 40 next year:eek: and OH said matter of factly "the best present I could give to you would be the mortgage statement showing £1000 paid off it" :rotfl: and he's right!!!
I really do like practical presents, although I know i'm in the minority
I'll definitely look into the Hive thing a bit more, i'm not sure how much it would save us as we don't often go out (we're rock and roll huh) but I hate coming home to a cold house on the days I come home from work early.

I don't like completely frivolous presents but the year my ex bought me a pair of bedroom curtains as my Christmas present was the year practicality went too far.Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. Hmmm i'm not sure how i'd feel about curtains... but if they were really nice ones:think: :rotfl:
I usually have kitchen gadgets but i can't fit naymore into my kitchen so i've given up on that nowMortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -
Hi, I don't blame you for closing your survey site accounts.
I've been doing the same. I'm currently only doing One Poll and You Gov. As soon as I get to £40 I'll stop One Poll as well. I'll probably carry on with You Gov as they only send me surveys that I can do, so I don't have the annoyance of being screened out all the time.Early retired - 18th December 2014
