    Thanks SJ & Bluemoo... :D

I've let the side down somewhat today and been a bit spendy - had to go to get a final xmas present so I popped into the other shops too..
    • £10 M&S on xmas presents
    • £18 in Matal*n on a throw for the lounge and some long socks for my boots
    • £55 in Waitr*se
I was only meant to spend £40 in Waitr*se to use a £6 off voucher but I ended up getting the weeks shopping and a turkey thing for xmas, plus the makings of my Dad's Birthday tea on Friday... he doesn't like to go out to eat so making tea at home is definitely a lot cheaper!

I will be making steak pie, chips and peas and an apple crumble for afters... costing around £10 for 4 of us. I have flour and stuff already in so I just had to buy the meat, veg, potatoes and apples.
    Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.

Bit of spending done again today :o
    • £3 on hospital carpark
    • £1.75 on a diary - this will be used for a spending diary/meal planner next year so should reap the money back!
    • £10.97 Waitr*se :o fancied something for tea
    • £1.98 on Xmas tunes:xmassmile
OH has gone to band practice tonight so I've decided to sort all my presents out and get everything wrapped and finished for putting under the tea.. :T and then cry when I realise how much money I've spent :rotfl:

    In other money news :

I've just spent the last hour looking at Offset Mortgages, I literally can't wait until August when our fix is up! :rotfl:
I've found a good one with YBS @ 1.86% fixed for 2 years :T but we need a LTV of 65% :( (we'd only be at 67%) after having a brief discussion with OH, we've decided to pay an extra £5k off the mortgage before Aug, therefore, having a 65% LTV. We will at least have a better shot at being accepted for it (or similar) :j

Obviously the interest rates may go up before then and they might reject us but fingers crossed!!

It would reduce our interest payment per month from c£570 to c£225, just ridiculous that we pay double what we could at the moment!

Has anyone had any dealing with Y*rkshire BS? I have no idea what they are like as they are one of the banks I don't have an account with :rotfl:

Talking of which, will having so many bank accounts go against us? I think at the moment I have 4 current accounts, 2 ISA's, 2 live savings account, 3 empty savings accounts and a joint ac with my Dad

    Any advice much appreciated!

  • That's an insane difference in payments! Sounds like a great plan to get yourself in a position to take advantage of it :) Good luck for when the time comes! x

    What a difference! That's amazing!

No experience I'm afraid of YBS. Pretty much been with one bank my whole life. Maybe you could try searching the bank account forum and see if it's been mentioned?

I don't think the amount of BA would count against you unless you have an overdraft facility for each. This would mean you may have a lot of avaiable credit which might put them off?

My new offset is with chelsea building society who are just a different trading name for ybs. The whole process form start to finish was very easy with my remortage, and I'm now addicted to their online banking seeing the daily interest changing depending how much extra I can put in there. I only had 75% ltv though so my deal is no where near as good as yours, but hopefully in a few years if the house price stops going down I can get a better deal again.

Thanks for your input guys, I've had a look at reviews of the YBS and they aren't great to be honest :( but it won't hurt to go and have a chat with them if I can't find a better deal elsewhere.

It's payday tomorrow, so i'll pay my bills and everything then move some cash around to pay off the £5500 to the mortgage. May as well do it as early as I can to save extra interest :rotfl: It knocks 11 months off my mortgage so the final payment date will be May 2031! :j:j

And if I do it now, it'll make it onto my yearly statement that arrives in Jan :rotfl:obsessed!!

Big to do list for tomorrow/weekend so i'll write it out here:

    Dec Monthly figures
    Outstanding Mortgage £155,523.64
Family Loan £3,850 (OH will pay this each month)
    Daily interest £17.05
    Offset Savings £16,964.79

Total Debt as present moment £142,408.85(-1,880.72):j

    Other bits done :
    • Y0ug0v money received and put to savings - £50
    • borrowed £1000 off my dad so I don't have to close my ISA to OP - this should be paid back in the next month or two
    • paid off CC  bl00ming xmas :rotfl:
    • Ha1ifax shuffle
    • closed my Nati0nwide fl*xdirect account - needed the money, also it gets rid of another bank account of my file (it only had till April to run so I've only missed out on £36ish interest)
    Mortgage OP update -

This morning I got all my savings money shuffled around to put into my current account to ring and pay the OP :j rang up and the lady said they have to fetch a file from storage to check I'm not overpaying my limit :( apparently they've not heard of instant access to computer files :rotfl:

So now I'm waiting for the phone call back, which might take a few days, to pay the extra £5,500. I really hope they don't drag it on over Christmas!

I was all excited as well, now I feel a bit deflated :o oh well.. got to get the exciting housework done.. :T

Do you think if I stare at my phone it'll ring quicker?:rotfl:

That's the target. Normal end date is 2037.

Though, we are planning on moving house at some point in the 5yrs or so, so this will probably get changed. My ideal plan is to owe 100k by Dec 2018 but that is a BIG BIG dream and unlikely. (ETA: Have worked out we would need to up our OPs by 500 starting from 5 months ago, so......)

2021! Gosh that is so close!!!
