  • HSD today, some trousers and leggins £25 - trousers £17.50 for my course & leggins £7.50 just as my last pair where severly faded.

All thats left is my shoes, which I plan to use my vouchers to get so may just need to top up by £5 ish pounds.

Also, filled up car. Its a shocking difference, when I first filled the car up £20 at shell got me just over a quarter of a tank, today it reached a quarter, so I decided to fill her up whilst I was out, £25 @ tesco pump filled her up to the brim, so 3/4 of a tank! What a difference! Plus clubcard points which are always handy for saving towards days out.

I also got a few lunch box bits ready for dd's days at nursery, water, raisins, biscuit snacks etc

I got that done whilst dd was at preschool, I felt strange walking around the shops alone, felt like Id lost an arm, at the same time it was nice just to be able to go! I feel like Ive been given my freedom, again it was just nice!

I also got some vouchers from mr t, £4 off a £30 shop for the next 4 weeks, most bits are cheaper in lidls, but there are a few bits eg value pasta, value chicken, value mince, diced onions which I cant get at lidls so will most likely do at least 1 shop in there to stock up freezer wise.

Hair was done yesterday, last had it done in oct I think, it had grown 4 inches since then so worked out to be charge of a restyle :(. On the plus it looks nice ready for my course, I got it done a touch shorter to last longer between cuts and now I have my car I can drive out a bit further next time, get it done cheaper!

It was such a relief knowing that I have a budget for things like this now, in the past if I got something I needed, Id have a headache for days wondering what debt/bill would have to be late or reduced to make up for school shoes, or a larger food shop, hair cut.

I am tired today, but that was dd waking up constantly through out the night, she has developed a fear of roaring cars/bikes, and theres a car that likes to roar down our street during the night night. Each time it jolted her out of her sleep screaming, I then had to calm her down before trying to get back to sleep myself, last time was 2 or 3 am I think.
I read something in the paper about a mum stabbing someone because his roaring kept her baby awake - whilst I dont condone it I can understand the sheer frustration that drove her to lunacy. I can feel my blood boiling more and more each time I hear his/her engine approaching just waiting for dd to scream it can take a good 45 mins to convince her there are no monsters its just a naughty silly car. Nothing I can do about it other than hope Karma bites them on the bum pretty soon!

  • Seems my prayers were answered, quiet night last night, no roarers racing, and no tears, had a good night sleep.

DD loved her nursery morning, she stayed for lunch. Im so glad she is happy, less stressful leaving her on the big day knowing she likes it already!

Whilst she was there I got my shoes, I did check the cheaper shops first, as I had the idea if I found shoes for cheaper, I could spend the vouchers on dd. It didnt happen, but I did find a pair for exactly £20 so my vouchers paid for them exactly, they seem comfy, Il soon know after a full day in them.

Also picked up some easter eggs for dd, they were doing buy 1 get 2 free, so 3 eggs for 2.50, works out 0.83p each, they are just about the only thing getting cheaper and cheaper each year :rotfl:

DD got some wellies reduced to £6, she needs wellies for nursery, they like us to leave a pair there so hunted around for a cheaper pair. Couple of bits from the £ store, softner & washing powder.

So that was the second journey to college, took me 15 mins by car - compared to 45 by bus! Im assuming it might take longer on the day, as Il be leaving with rush hour, but we do finish early so should be a straight forward journey home. Still needed the sat nav, think it will be a while before I know the journey off by heart, I did recognise a few roads, so am picking it up, albeit slowly! Im hoping it isnt too manic on the day, I dont want to start off on the wrong foot, a bad journey can kill the day. Im thinking it may not be crazy, If I leave at 8.30ish most people will be at work, with just parents doing school run.

Tomorrow Im debating between a park or soft play.....I think Il see what the weather is like then decide on the day.

I cant believe it this time next week Il have had my first day!!!!
    Im excited sooo sooo excited.

Its been 19 months waiting....finally got there! Feels like everything is finally in the right place, we are safe, money issues will hopefully soon be over, this course should lead to work which will work around childcare, it almost seems too good to be true, I keep thanking my lucky stars daily and praying it doesnt all go wrong :)

    Hi DF,
You sound so much more relaxed now, which isn't surprising as you're now in a much better place. I'm so excited for you, particularly as you sound pretty excited yourself.

Is your first day next Thursday?
  • Yes, although I say first day, its only going to be 2-3 hours as an induction morning, the following week will be the full day, cant believe the time has finally come!

  • Done our weekly shop at Mr T today, didnt need doing until Monday, but thought could get it done, as dd was getting restless indoors, and novelty of local park wore off!

They had kids boots on sale, so I got dd a size she should be into for autum, £3! Next years hat & gloves £1!

I got my cream soda - I love it - no shops sell it around here!
Cant remember the last time I had any!

Now that I have my car I can also find the local Aldi, in my old area it was definately cheaper than lidl, so looking forward to finding that!

We will need a top up of bread, fruit & milk probably by wednesday, they are cheap in lidl so thats all good.

Going to write myself a meal plan based on what we have in, then as I have each meal I can cross it off so I know what needs replacing next week. I also find, if I dont preplan, I get halfway through the week then feel like theres nothing in as I struggle to match ingredients.

I managed mr t without a map or satnav, enroute I spotted what looked like a good park, so will be taking dd there tomorrow for a NSD!

That car sounds like a dose of magic for you along with a little extra necessities money! The difference in tone of your messages are so lovely to read.

You transported me back to being around 10 years old running around my Nan's garden in the baking sun with ice cream sodas. Cream soda is a little rich for me now, but put some richer cornish ice cream in and I'm hooked! Brilliant memories, thank you.

I need the meal plan too. I've decided on 2 different breakfasts and nice dinners that will give me leftovers for lunches at work. Like you I can't mix and match ingredients successfully.

Have a lovely day at the park.
  • It feels like magic, Muffin, I feel like my old self again. When I looked back at what I lost it was like something so distant it felt like a childhood memory - it of course wasnt, it was only 18months-2 years, but probably the longest 2 years of my life!

Just feel like Ive regained my independence, dd is happy too, she knows the car means going out somewhere fun even if its a different supermarket, swimming pool or park, she gets really excited!

  • Well, didnt make the park today. DD woke with a temp in the middle of the night, which has got progressively worse throughout the day.

Its shooting up 2 hourly at the moment, which means Im in for a very disturbed night. She hasnt had a fever that bad since she was a baby. Im so glad we have the car now, docs are closed out of hours is 12 miles away, I hope we wont need to go but I feel safe knowing the option is there if we need to.

She has been in pretty good spirits when her temp does reduce, so Im hoping its just a minor viral.

Off to try and get some sleep

  • Poor little miss had a fever all weekend. It seemed to have returned to normal this morning, so she wanted to go to nursery.

Just cleaned kitchen floor with some apple scented wipes I brought, (special offer mr t.) I dont usually buy into wipes as I know they are a waste, hot water & washing up liquid does the trick, but I do love the smell of a clean house!

Im not sure if its those multi vits Ive been taking, or everything just sorting itself out but I really feel like Ive got tons of energy again, such a good feeling!

Off to squeeze in a little more before collecting little lady

  • Am a bit worried today.

Paid a deposit for a well known reputable company that also sells car insurance...or so I thought. I found horrific reviews so cancelled before it went live to avoid cancellation fees, returned the ins cert, they said refund due within 5 working days....

Its gone 5 working days, no money. I double checked the review site to see if this was another complaint, a couple of others have done the same as me, cancelled when they realised it wasnt the company we thought just someone using the name, done everything instructed only to be told, we are investigating, 30 days.

Im freaking out a touch as I cant go without that money for 30 days, there is nothing to investigate anyway, I paid a deposit, cancelled before it went live, as per their rules its a straight forward refund.

The only way I wont go overdrawn (no overdraft facility) is to not do a food shop next week....Im not sure there is enough to last.

I am so angry I could scream. Judging by the amounts of complaints they obviously dont care, Im shocked they havent been shut down.
