No More! debtfree2015's diary

I thought I'd start a diary on here so I can monitor my progress, not quite the same writing it on paper, plus I love the smileys :D

With my current payments Im expecting to be debt free Mid 2015....Im hoping I will be able to pay more off as my work income goes up and bring this date right down.

My debts are::o
cc1 2718
cc2 2796
cc3 1736
loan 1 6333
OD 469

CC1 payment going out tomorrow £70

Will also be out of OD tomorrow but back in it when bills come out in few weeks. My spreadsheet shows however thanks to shuffling a few dd's about that I should be OD free end of Jan for the first time in years :T

Got some cheap meal ideas from the 50p thread, I love this site!!:j

  • Happy new diary :T

I'm sure getting out of your overdraft will be a massive boost. I can't wait till I'm out of mine either, its going to be a real celebration.
Best of luck, I'll be following.
Aiming to be debt free AND a qualified lawyer by 30!
    * Overdraft: £1,700 * Credit Card:
    [STRIKE]£1,550[/STRIKE] £1,534 * Uni fees: [STRIKE]£945[/STRIKE] £300 * Wonga:[STRIKE]£290[/STRIKE] * ILEX: £635 *
  • Thank you Pink :hello:

    Good luck to you too.

It will be a major boost, even when I didnt have debt in loans & CC's I have always had overdraft & been in it no matter how well paid Ive been. Just not worth it anymore.

Ive closed 2 cards, kept my lowest rate open. I won't use it, but I will keep it as my emergency card until I have built up enough savings to be my emergency fund.

Got a budget 1 dish roast dinner in the oven, 1 chicken leg quarter, 3 potatoes chopped up, 2 tomatoes, 2 carrots & one onion quartered. Not sure how it will turn out but smells lovely already, dd keeps asking dinner now?
Will make some cakes whilst Ive got the oven on, keep my little terror entertained

  • LSD today, oats 39p, 4pint Milk £1, & paracetamol 19p, all from lidl.

Cold is at its peak I think as couldnt sleep last night, hopefully be gone soon!

No debt payments now until the 18th, which will be £50 to egg. Im only paying £5 above the minimum, will be upping it in the new year as its my smallest CC & high interest. BOS is the same interest but larger balance, so I figured get the small one out of the way for now then I can snowball to larger balance.

I am debating changing my bank. I have a current account at HSBC & Barclays. Barclays is my spare I rarely use it unless Im attempting to save. I kind of fell into HSBC, I opened an account with Midlands bank when I was at school, then that turned into HSBC and Ive just always stayed put. Im not really basing it on anything major, Im just annoyed at the local branch. I get a top up of housing benefit, due to some system error, powerdown or something they paid 2 weeks late, I didnt have the money to cover the difference in my bank, ended up going over drawn twice in 2 weeks (as in over my limit) and Ive been charged £41. I did go in and explain that this delay would push me over & it wasnt my fault but the branch manager refused to help. £41 may seem like nothing to her, but its 2 weeks food shop to me, she suggested going to a foodbank, I explained I didnt have the £6.30 bus fare to get to the foodbank she still said there was nothing they could do!

The only thing that makes me hesitate is, due to my ex I am anon on the electoral roll, this affects my credit rating. Because I have been with HSBC for 15 years its never been an issue & I got low rate credit card etc, not sure how Barc's would be if in the future I applied for credit, assuming I am still Anon that is.

Thats my waffle for the day!

  • Done a food shop today, spent £14.94:T

My budget is normally £20. I took a different approach though, I normally buy for example a pack of chicken breasts then freeze as it works out cheaper....however I find that the money I should save on my next shop because of this small bulk buy I just spend on something else. So this week I worked out a meal plan & stuck to it!

When I got home realised Im short on toilet roll, but unless my toddler decides to throw it all down the toilet again  it should just last until next week, if not it will be value paper with money from my change jar :o

The only top up I may need is apple juice (55p) and bread (47p) so I have kept a pound that was in my purse aside so Im not tempted to put it on my card along with other bits.

On the down side, dd had her nursery pics done, & they are stunning, but I just havent got the money! The cheapest pack is £21 which is stupid as its one large pic & 4 small pics(all same cant mix and match) - Im a single parent with no family - why would I need 4 of the same?? You cant buy single pics(£12) unless you buy a multipack....they have brought out a different multipack where you get 3 different ones for £36, but thats still a lot of money especially as after paying bills I have pennies left....so Im thinking that one through, got til monday to decide. I have a feeling Im going to have to do the £21 pack - will have to keep shopping at £15 for the next 4 weeks to make up the cost.... Im off to ponder and quickly tidy up before picking up little one.

  • NSD today. Sent a secured message to my bank re a loan I had in 2004, it had PPI on it. I thought it was compulsory! As soon as I found out it wasnt I refinanced with another company minus PPI as they wouldnt remove it. I dont think Id be entitled to much, as it was only running about 10 months, but every penny counts. Ive never thought about reclaiming, but worth a shot.

Got an apt on Weds to speak to Nationwide re their basic cash card account, purely because it would take away the temptation of overdraft etc.

When my overdraft with HSBC comes to an end, I wont close it as they will charge me an admin fee, but when it comes to automatically renew itself next october, I will refuse the agreement, and hopefully wont occur any charges.

I have decided the plan is, transfer most payments to a standard account, Il set up a monthly dd to HSBC just enough to cover all debts so my debt dds come from one account.

My Barclays current account will be my monthly spend ie food shop & essentials.

Il transfer a set amount to an online savings ac.

THen all standard dds & whatever is left will stay put in the nationwide acc (if I can open it that is! Not on the elec roll so not sure what issues that may cause hense meeting with them rather than just applying & being rejected.)

Uploaded new products onto my site today, getting more daily visits so a good sign my site is being found :T

  • I just realised I havent checked my one poll account in weeks, 15 mins later earnt 95p! Still a huge way off the £40 needed to cash up but getting there.

I also am with valued opinions but with the annoying kicking me out half way through that can take months to reach the target. got a £10 argos voucher last time to go towards DD's birthday presents.

  • Hi debtfree2015 , like you , I decided to go with £20 budget , last two weeks were ok - spent under my budget, my fridge is emphty. I try not to think about it but keep baking cakes , making bread , even managed to make my own yogurt ... Food obsession is over taking on the cheap side ... This cannot be good for the figure LOL ... Anyway , good luck with your journey x :p
    Don't forget smiling :):):)
  • Hi Want_to_be_free, -it is hard isnt it! Good luck to you too :)

Ive just spent 2 weeks budget ordering on tescos, mainly value frozen meats, fish & value apple juice, also got some frozen chopped onion & peppers - I waste so much fresh it should work out cheaper just using what I need. That will last 4 weeks, then the remaining 2 weeks budget I will spread out to top up on bread, milk, butter & fruit.

The plus side I am loosing weight, I always struggled with the last half stone since pregnancy but at this rate it should drop of fast

And Ive just noticed I have a star!! I was wondering how people got them! Woohoooo:dance:
