Definately does!
had a brilliant day today, not done much but in the way Im feeling compared to yesterday.
Positive thoughts will get me through:j40 to go0 -
Another happy day today.
Payment went out to loan, I updated my sig yesterday.
Finally set up a blog for my shop, hopefully that will boost viewers as its linked to the site & vice versa, reduced a few items as competitors had lowered theirs and I didnt notice
Got an interview for a course coming up this week, going to be an expensive day, £8 to get dd in nursery for the morning(she doesnt normally do this day), £6.30 bus fare. Then got to go back the next day to view the college nursery - I was hoping to save bus fare and view same day, but they only take viewings in the mornings which is a pest.
I can turn the second trip into a nice little day, I have got a £10 argos voucher, so will go and get dd a little present, plus I have £10 dorothy perkins vouchers so will see if they have anything reduced could do with some bootcut jeans! Plus will check 99p store whilst I am there, would like a diary for new year & some stocking fillers eg crayons, bubble bath for dd. Ooh I also have some online boots points I need to claim from the kiosk - must remember to do that!40 to go0 -
the next 3 weeks will be supertough.
The money spent on putting dd in nursery to let me get to interview & bus fare, will have to come out of food bugdet which leaves a grand total of £2 (just under)
I have a little space on CC, looks like I will have to use it to get through. We have a bit in the freezer, but do need eggs & bread, milk & fruit.....will need food at a later date, Il be able to do a full shop on the 19th but not before, got about 7 meals in the freezer so will need to put about 2 weeks on the CC.
I had requested a birthday cake to be made for dd, but Ive had to cancel that, I feel ultra bad, as its a friend who is just starting up her business so I know she needs every penny she can get, but I just havent got the money.
I know its the right thing, as if I pass the interview and get on the course, il be qualified in a year and hopefully earning, just a shame it affects things now

Well hellooo, twice in one day you lucky lucky diary!
My friend was really understanding about cancelling the cake, which was really kind, and lifted my mood straight away.
Now the challenge is on to try to make dd a decent cake, I think itl be cheaper than buying a supermarket one.
Raided the freezer, we have just had chicken with rice & peas.
Have had a huge bag of rice for months, keep forgetting its there. Will look up more rice recipes, I think its cheaper than pasta!
I was pretty impressed with the chicken, I got a box of frozen chicken breast, 5 portions, skinless for £2.79. I always split one between myself & dd, then eat the pieces she leaves behind, makes it stretch further and less waste!
I fried it a little - whilst still pink added a bit of 'spicy season all' both sides. I cut it into chunks whilst browned on the outside but pink inside, then when it was almost completely white inside, I added a cup of chicken stock - gorgeous! The left over juice was divine too! It must be the combination of spicy season all with the stock as Ive never reacted like that when Ive used either of those in the past.
Really impressed at the good value of chicken too, havent brought it for weeks as fresh was just out of my price range.
I never make an effort with chicken, normally just put it in the oven then complain its plain or too dry :rotfl:
Ive started to move all incoming payments into new account. When Im sure they are active, I moved 2 bills over, then decided actually I want to leave all dd's in one account! Il set up a regular standing order to the old account to cover all. The remainder in my new account will be food shop & clothes & day to day expenses (apart from the 2 bills I have already moved!! Im hoping it will help me feel more positive looking at a positive balance all the time!
Thats the plan anyway. Had the 6wk letter from hsbc, no outcome yet, 12 weeks is up between christmas & new year, so Im guessing I wont hear until after new year.
I fulfilled one of my goals I set last year - that was to move.
I was also meant to save for a car, which I had the money ready, before my nan passed, so the saving for the car will recommence - only an old car, but also need to have money upfront for insurance & a couple of hundred saved incase of emergencies. Ive only ever brought one old car and it died on me the same day I brought it, so I am very very wary, but a car would make things sooooo much easier.
So, a car is my target for 2012 :T40 to go0 -
Ooh, new year targets being written already? I love that idea! I always do resolutions but then forget what I've written but this diary is a good place to note them down, isn't it?
I'm sorry to hear that you're a bit under on your food expenses after the nursery and interview, but I'm keeping everything crossed and sending many happy successful thoughts your way that you'll get accepted. You deserve to be.
I always smile when people say they want to make a decent cake as I'm pretty sure you'll make an outstanding one that tastes lovely. Shop bought are never as nice in taste and texture as ones lovingly made by your Mum either so you're onto a winner.
Hopefully you'll get an HSBC boost for the new year as well. What a great start that would be to the new year, a nice little cheque in the post.
Your dinner sounds lovely. I'm shocked at what we can all make on a decent budget. I think that having to rely on myself to come up with decent meals I'll also be using more herbs and things. I don't eat meat, but that seems to have opened up a whole new scope of mealtime treats for me now.
Also, congratulations on fulfilling last year's goal of moving! You often sound a bit down on yourself but I think you're doing great. Whatever happens to you, you continue to move forward.
Take care and happy DFW day!0 -
Thanks Muffintops - hope you have had a good day:)
It seemed to go well. but she has got another group of interviews coming up and only 16 places. I should know in a week, hopefully!
If I get accepted, still got to make sure there is enough funding, its been reduced so handled on a first come first served basis. Theres also a few other expenses I didnt know about, £152 reg fee & £30 student pass - I hope I can apply for help with that as no way Il be able to afford that, unless they allow me to pay in installments throughout the course - or off course I get win the bank claim.
I do make good fairy cakes, its just the decoration I fall apart on, cant ice to save my life, my version of icing is a small spoonful spread with the back of a spoon and hundreds and thousands to decorate - they always look like they have been decorated by kids :rotfl:
Shattered today after a very long day, going to have an early night tonight!40 to go0 -
I visited the college nursery yesterday - realised that if I get on the course - no way I can start without a car.
The routes between both colleges isnt long, but lots of underpasses. The college isnt in the safest of areas, well its not nice after dark, no way will I be walking under them alone...
So...If I get on the course I have till approx march to raise enough.
Ive worked out, if I ask for a repayment break on my loan - Im allowed 1 month as per the t & c's which I havent used yet, and reduce my cc's to the bare minimum repayments & pay less towards my Overdraft than I was planning to I should just manage it about 5-600, though it will take me forever to clear OV, and insurance will have to be paid monthly instead of yearly as I used to do it.
Il also need to try to save a fair bit aside, as Im assuming repairs may be more expensive - or if it something major went wrong, I wouldnt last long without a car.
My nan was always lucky with cars, she only ever had old cars and most would go on about 5-6 years often with only having to replace the odd lightbulb, or break pads so I really hope Im just as lucky.
I had one old car, it died on me the day I got it from then on I always brought cars 3-4 years old, so very nervous but its got to be done!40 to go0 -
Nice calming weekend after a busy week.
Just been relaxing, no spending. Spent a long time looking at cars online, to see what kind of car I could afford, how much I could tuck away for repairs etc.
Il look for a car recent MOT so I have a full year to save for potential problems that could arise - if none arise then that money will be used to pay the insurance upfront the following year.
I have a friend who's husband is a mechanic so thankfully I will be able to know if Im being ripped off price wise for repairs.
Hopefully will find out about course this week, fingers crossed:T40 to go0 -
Fingers crossed for you here too. That and happy successful thoughts being pushed your way. I hope you hear soon and that it's all good news.0

Spent £10.40 today, on some stocking fillers for dd & a hand whisk.
Cant believe my princess will be 3, its just gone so so fast.
Been working hard on my site today, still slow on sales, but Im guessing that might be part and parcel of having a hobby type site.
Anyhow, short and sweet, my eyes are burning its been a long day! Going to pop over to PAD then off to bed!40 to go0
