  • I do feel better after my rant yesterday. Think I needed to let it all out.

Bad nights sleep again, dd up at 4 then 5. Shattered. Its like having a newborn all over again, except she is 3.5 years old! Im going to try out a reward chart, see if it curbs some of this behaviour.

Got the committee meeting later, so going to see if I can have a nap try to recoup an hour or two before that starts.

  • Good nights sleep tonight.

DD stayed in her bed, which was brill as was college day today so up at 6.30

Not long got back, am so shattered! Was a brilliant day, dd loved it too. First full day she has had away from me since I last worked, she was a baby back then so I was pretty impressed she wasnt too bad.

Am getting slightly concerned about the route home.

The roads approaching these roundabouts are all very fast, most of them I go straight ahead at so cope ok. THeres one particular roundabout where I have to go all the way round, no matter how slow I go I always feel like the car is going to tip over. Im thinking maybe its just because its the other way, ie on the way there the right turns are ok but they are coming from different directions.

Anyway will definately be looking up another route online as really dislike that journey home.

I need to pop back that way tomorrow to return something to a shop, so will go when its quiet so I can take my time and explore the area, hopefully without the satnav.

I did spend £1.35 at college for tea during my break...which I wasnt intending to but was hungry from missing breakfast. I did bring a packed lunch, which is just as well as canteen was a bit pricey imo.

I need to find a different foundation. I look fine when I leave my house (imo) but within an hour or so, I look like I havent got a scrap of makeup on, bags galore, looking at a mirror all day when I looked rough really didnt help!

    Better get dinner sorted!

    Hello DF,

Wow, there's so many updates I missed. I don't want to push you onto those feelings again but it was nice that the rant helped you. I have a lot in common with you so I did completely understand your feelings and what's been going on and I'm glad you had a place to let that steam off.

That's great that your day in college yesterday went so well. I did smile at your comments on no foundation and staring in a mirror all day. I assume that beauty mirrors are a bit scheming with the way they highlight every flaw and sort of ignore the good points! That's my excuse for looking rough when I get my hair done anyway!

I hope you find a new route for yourself if that one makes you nervous. There's nothing worse than that anxiety that hits when you're off somewhere. Particularly if it's somewhere you love going to as the drive will start to ruin that for you. Exploring the area is always good, particularly with the amount of roadworks that pop up out of the blue. At least if you've already had a drive around you'll feel comfortable doing that when you have to.

So much seems to be happening with you. It's really lovely to read. I'm glad your daughter was loving the new routine too. You're quite a team.

    Have a lovely day. x
  • Thanks Muffin. Thankfully, my outbursts are rare but when I explode I really do explode.

Ive calmed since, I had the same friend on the phone in tears yesterday but felt nothing but sympathy for her. It must have been my mood that triggered it all of that day.

I found out the route I go is the only way into my village, unless I want to add an extra 30 mins and go to the other side of town to get in!

But this time, there was a car coming out which meant I had to stop then move, I felt so much safer. I think its adjusting to the higher speeds too, theres only my road & residential roads that are 30, everywhere else is 60. My old area was really built up so speeds were 30 everywhere and even that was stop start so crawled along.

Things do seem to be moving, which very happy at I was getting quite down just plodding along!

Hope you have a good day.

  • Returned my items to the shop.
I didnt realise when I order online, I could get it delivered to the store for free! Its free parking too so makes sense to do that in future.

Popped into boots too, I put my card in the voucher point to see if there were any relevant coupons, there was one for a free eyebrightner/concealer if I purchased something from the same range. I needed a foundation as mine is low and doesnt last on, plus I decided to try a compact powder so I can top myself up in the day avoid looking like Ive just woken up. I had forgotten how different the lighting is in salons compared to at home:eek:. Got to the till, and it was cheaper as it was 3 for 2! So I got foundation, compact and concealer, but only paid 6.99! I was intending to use my points towards it, as would have left me just 1.99 to pay, but the cashier said no, only one coupon or pay with points. Never heard that rule before, but wasnt overly fussed, I got 2 things free!

I do get some coupons for tescos but they are normally things that I wont buy so the discount isnt worth it, this time however I got the spend £30 get 3 off, which has been good. I did it one week, this week was lidl as didnt need as much. Need a bit more next week so will use another of those vouchers.

Its mothers day on sunday, and the first year dd has been made aware of it via nursery. So I have my first mothers day card & present to open, though dd doesnt understand that its mummies day, she wants a present too, so she will open it for me :)

Not much planned this weekend, Im still tired from yesterday!

  • Just popped to shops 99p for that new cake magazine. DD & I love making cakes the weekend, some cheap fun & snacks for the week! It came with a free cupcake stand (cardboad) and some butterfly patterns. Cakes just out of the oven, waiting for them to cool before we attempt the butter icing!

  • We made cakes, they were yummy, few left for tomorrow.

Didnt ice them as we should have, as I lost patience so spread the butter icing on instead, dd didnt know any different and loved them.

Im toying between 2 ideas. DD's toddler mattress was ruined, my fault. Ive put her old cot mattress in her toddlerbed, its not the right fit for the bed but fits her fine for the short term.
Now Im wondering whether its worth spending £40 on a mattress, only to have to upgrade her to a bigger bed in the next 12-18 months. Im thinking it may be worth while getting her full size bed now, then hopefully she will be set til she is a teenager.

So it will be more outlay now, but saving for the longterm...then again...its just £40? Oh I just cant decide.

I need to make a decision soon, as dd isnt going to last too much longer in the current mattress, its comfortable but she is almost at the end of it.

The thing thats stopping me, is paying out for a bed would make things tight night now, and I might be in more of a comfortable position next year to buy a better bed.

But if I do replace the bed in a year itl just be a waste of £40, which if my situation hasnt changed, is a lot of money.

Since writing all the above, I have a feeling I will opt for replacing her bed....it just doesnt make sense to buy 2 mattresses in 12-18 months. I cant see my situation completely turning around, as she will be starting school, Il be starting out at work so it will be an expensive time then, might aswell sort it now.

I need to sort my car's cambelt first, as if there turns out to be some hidden problems I dont know about then Il have to opt for the mattress. If everything goes well then I can start saving for her bed.

  • Lsd today, top up of fruit juice, milk, bread & butter.

Been busy, got the kitchen & bathroom floors washed, 1 load of washing done, another to go in.

Need to get the living room & hallway carpets cleaned asap, I moved the sofa the other day the room looks a lot larger now, but the difference in colour where the sofa used to be is shocking! I knew it needed doing, just didnt realise how bad it was!

Was planning to treat myself & dd to lunch out for mothers day, but as my college kit was a bit more than they initially said so I couldnt do it. I may do it next week instead, if I can squeeze it in somewhere.

DD is having a film day, micky mouse club house was on over and over again (dvd) Ive just convinced her to watch lilo & stitch instead!

Im a little bored now, tons to do just run out of energy.

  • NSD today. Having a clear up inbetween browsing.

Got to return some books to the library before picking dd up. Ive got really into reading again. Ive always loved a good fictional book, but the past 18months every time I tried I just couldnt get into it. Im guessing it was just too much going on, now things are calmer I am more relaxed.

Better get cracking, I have a bad habit of getting too distracted on this site!

    Hello DF,

You're so organised that reading your posts puts me completely to shame! I need to start writing lists again!

Regarding the mattress for your daughter. If you bought the £40 one now would you be able to sell it on ebay when you buy the new bed next year? That way it may turn out to be just a £20 overall spend/feeling of waste? Dilemmas like that are never easy as there's no real right or wrong answer. Just confusion.

I saw that cake decorating set the other day and was tempted myself as 99p for all of those things is a good price. But I rarely bake so it wouldn't have worked out well for me. Did you both enjoy making a big cakey mess together? Home made cakes are the nicest. Especially if they lasted into Mother's day too.

What books are you reading? What sort of authors do you like?
