  • The two mums I was hoping to give my number to, to meet up over easter were at nursery today...such a relief, I was seriously starting to dread the two weeks approaching.
Makes me sound like I dont love dd, of course I do she is my world, but we do wind eachother up when we are with each other 24/7, so nice to break it up by meeting her little friends so she can have fun & tire herself out, and I get to talk to another adult!
She was so excited they were in today she was jumping around like a luny toon.
I didn't get to give my number this morning, so will have to grab them when I pick her up. I hope I don't miss them, Im super excited at the prospect of having fun for the first easter break in a long long time!
One doesnt drive, so she is in the same position I was in for my first year pretty much stuck to the local area, so we could do park visits with the girls, & lunch at each others houses so some NSD's there.
The other lives in a neighbouring town & tends to take her little on soft play a lot, so not free in this case but if I balance my weekly budget for easter (£10 a week unless I save a bit on the food shop) we should be able to get a couple of trips in. In my old area it was about £16 for the softplay, as they charged kids £8!!! AND ADULTS £8. It was such a rip off, I mean most mums spent money in the cafe, so why they charged adults to sit their and watch their own children play I dont know. We only went twice as we were desperate for something to do.

Fingers crossed the meeting up happens of course, I could give them my number and not hear if they are busy with family etc.
Last summer that happened, the first mum I got to know we planned to meet up in the hols but I never heard at all, those 8 weeks really dragged, the only time I spoke to an adult was when I done the food shop and that would be at the till ie hello, please, thank you. Hopefully wont be like that this year!
I suppose worst case scenario, if it is like that this year, at least we have a car and a little budget to actually do a few things rather than sit around waiting for it to pass.

    Hello DF,

I'm so glad you got those playdates sorted and numbers swapped. Considering you find those things difficult to do, you're doing so well.

Have a lovely day at college today! x
  • Thanks muffin, had a good day, major headache though now & could sleep for england! x

  • Good day at college today, got a bit more into the practical bits which I enjoyed.
V.tired now, always takes it out of me! Arms are aching today too.

Was a nsd, brought my own drink instead of getting a tea as I never get to drink it intime. I might when it gets to winter bring a small flask in for a tea in the morning. THey have a starbucks cafe in there but tbh I wasnt raving about the tea! I always bring my own lunch as I make dd's anyway so makes sense to do the two at once.

Im wondering wether I should be topping up my car with fuel...I dont want to join the panic but I really dont want to be without fuel. Bus fares are so extreme round here it would really restrict our easter activities. Il decide tomorrow, when the roads are quiet I might pop to the one at Mr T, if its not a nightmare Il top up.

Need to stop the comp now before my head explodes!

  • Yesterday was a busy day, nothing major just browsing at possible beds for dd to see how much I need to start setting aside.
DD also begged for a dress she saw, lucky for her it was only £5.50 (Next have started doing cheaper items woohoo), I also got her some jeans from there for £11. She is tiny in size so I the cheaper supermarket jeans dont fit anymore, but next do elasticated waists still which is brill and £4 jellies from tesco.

That £20.5 came from Aprils clothes budget dd is pretty much set tbh now, after the multipack tshirts I got from mr t. The only other things she needs are school shoes as she has come to the end of hers, that can wait for a few weeks as that will take a whole months clothes budget with her feet! Childrens shoes are outrageously expensive, when you consider as toddlers they need replacing ever 4-5 months! Thats a lot of money! Summer isnt too bad I put her in canvas shoes as much as poss, but for 70% of the year she is in proper school shoes which are about £30-£40 a go!
Depending on the weather this summer dd may need a couple pairs of shorts but Il wait and see what happens with the weather so that wont be for a month or two I think.

I need to work on a good capsule wardrobe, ie some good items that I can mix and match rather than quite a lot actually of cheap stuff that doesnt fit right or falls apart at the seams.

Ive got a lot of black stuff that is so old its almost grey its faded that much, every single jumper is bobbled to death. My good items are a pair of jeans, a pair of leggings, a tunic and 2 vest tops. Those 2 vest tops where 2.50 from primark, so although Im sure they will go the distance this summer Im not too sure after that!

I tried one of those shake a bag things for dinner, with chicken BBQ flavour. I was not impressed at all. It tasted more curryfied which is not good. It did give a lot of flavour and the chicken was soft, so I guess if it would have tasted how BBQ tastes I would have enjoyed it.
DD quite liked it, so saved the remainder for her tomorrow.

Im quite hungry after not finishing dinner so may make myself some cereal.

Im thinking of changing my hair colourwise, Im thinking of trying out red. I went red years ago, it looked lovely but lasted weeks as the sun bleached it then it looked a bit rusty looking. Hairdressers around here are too pricey so if I do it it would be a diy job....just scared of taking the plunge and hating it, red can be a bit of a nightmare to get out of hair.

Will have a think about it...

Today I done most of next weeks food shop, the little bits that I can get locally Il get one day next week.

    Hello DF,

I'm glad college went really well again and that you've been enjoying the weekend. Your daughter sounds like she's got a good wardrobe full.

Getting a capsule wardrobe is something I've been considering too.

Changing your hair colour need only be temporary. Could you get it sorted from someone in college? Be a free model for them?

I tend to change my hair colour a lot. Anything goes really from blonde to black. I know now not to go too dark, but I had fun finding out.

    I hope you're enjoying your weekend. x
  • Hi

Yeah the college do cheap colours, but I couldnt get there and back intime to collect dd from nursery & we are not allowed to work on each other.

Im going to hold fire as Im always changing my mind. If I do opt for red itl be temporary for now.

Im the same with colour, prior to dd, Id had bright blonde, honey blond, light brown, dark brown, black, plum, red. I think the only colour I havent tried is ginger! Got a bit boring once I had dd and stuck to alternating between hilights & no hilights, then no hilights when money became an issue.

Hope your date night goes well!

  • Busy week this week. Monday was quiet.
Tuesday we met one of dd's friends for lunch & park. Today we went to another friends house for lunch. Im shattered now! Tomorrow will be a quiet day, I need it!

Next week we have a farm visit planned with one of the above friends dependant on the weather. Will also meet up with the other mum, though that will be local as she is due to give birth in the next few weeks so lacking energy!

So far I have stuck to my easter holiday budget. The farm day will be quite expensive but Ive saved from this weeks budget to go towards that.

Very tired now, dd is pestering for her bath think its going to be an early night for us both!

    Hi DF,
Well, you've managed half way through the holidays and sounds like you're doing a great job of keeping things moving and occupied. Maybe, a little too well if you're both exhausted! How great. These are the times you look back on I expect, aren't they?

Have a lovely quiet day today. xx
