I agree that you can 'speak' to someone on a forum and think how nice they sound but not so sure that it's just being shy that stops you trying to see if it could it go a bit further. On here for example we read posts from one another but know next to nothing about the writer, not just are they fat or thin, tall or small, but often where in the country they live or even whether they're male or female.

In my case all my friends are married off with kids – we are all a quite close knit and drink in the same social club and have done for many years so they don’t actually know any single men (or the ones they do know I also know and know why they are single!!!)

Im far from shy but I just seem to go to places where there are no single guys – on nights out with the girls we go out to have a giggle and a dance and a few drinks, on the odd occasion Im on the pull the guy gets scared off as us girls look rather intimidating (group of 10+)
Even the guys at work are married/engaged (not that I would want to mix work and relationship again!)

My last option is dating sites!

I'd put money on that being a scam Susanna, as soon as they give you a personal email address so soon, all it means is they're trying to get you away from the site so that there's less chance of them being caught out and if they attach any sort of virus with their message it gets onto your computer easier. Always only stay on site until you feel comfortable.
I was contacted by a girl who said she lived on the Wirral, but it was such a strange email address i tried to trace it and found it was registered in Russia. I wrote to Smooch to say i was suspicious but she's still there.

I have had some really abusive messages after saying I'm not interested, I am also ignored myself but I don't let it bother me but I'm lucky as most decent messages catch my attention enough to want to reply.

There seems to be more and more messages that just say 'Hi' I don't even read profiles in that instance.

I'm not rude I just know how these sites work and know that some people get upset at seeing a reply only for it to say '!!!!!! off'

I stopped replying to a guy because he kept ignoring all the questions I was asking him and only writing about 2 sentences back which weren't really relevant to the conversation... he then messaged me a month later asking if I wanted to go for a drink. Bit awkward!

I'm on that pof, plenty of strange women out there I'm telling you! Came off for a bit as was saving up, now going to have another look to see if it's changed since I was last on.

You will find a few new people but also many who have been on since you first joined as many have unrealistic expectations.

I have removed my pics now as I just aren't interested in meeting anyone.
