All sounds promising. Good luck to those of you who have signed up to the POF and other free dating sites. Having just found out of the guys I had a couple of dates with earlier this year had a girlfriend all along (good old Facebook), I'm taking a break from the free sites as they do attract a fair proportion of guys after one thing. I wouldn't mind so much if they were at least up front & honest about what they wanted from the outset. I really thought this guy was 'nice' - just goes to show you can't tell.

Not sure how I feel about dating, online or otherwise, at the moment. My life seems to have shrunk to 'work-horses-work-family-work-friends' with the result that my social circle is pretty closed. I'd love to meet someone but opportunities to do so seem pretty rare....!

Its difficult to start the email process on POF because there are so many people that dont reply...So it can be a waste of time composing long initial emails if for 90% of the time they are going to be ignored...Some women are frightened off if you compose longish initial emails so most men resort to the single line email.....But its a start isnt it?????

I never considered this before, but I still take the stance that if someone cannot be bothered to actually read my profile and message me something more than 'hi how r u?' then I will not reply. Thinking about it now, this seems really rude! On POF though, you can receive so many messages, mainly from men who have not read your profile and are clearly only interested in one thing.

I had not heard of Oasis, may go check this one out, as not having much luck anywhere else :(

I've never done the copy and paste thing, I always try to send a message asking about something on there profile, or there intrests.

Don't get many response but I do try

If anyone wants to see just look for 'ChandlerOL2' on POF that's mine
I had a peep at your profile too... I'm just so nosey, I couldn't help myself:)
Good luck, hope you find someone!

runningwoman, FAB post. You're right. Old looking 45 year olds DO have the right to message me (pretty, young looking 33 year old) but I also have the right to laugh as obviously in a bar they wouldn't expect me to look at them!!! I know where I'm at looks wise and what I want from a man and have the right to only reply to who I want to! Its NOT that internet dating is carp but that they're not for me personally! X

  • I think anyone has the right to message anyone, but you don't have the right to expect a reply. I always reply to anyone who has put thought and effort into their message but if they're not for me then it'll be a thanks, but no thanks message.
  • meant to add, thanks for the post runningwoman.
  • Scott I looked at your profile too and wish you luck! You should go on the POF forum, there's a section there for profile reviews. I got some really good advice by asking for a review. The only thing that sticks out for me is a small spelling error in your first paragraph - it's now not know. It's a small point, but you never get a second chance to make a first impression.....
