The one that took me to the Tate gallery because he was very knowledgeable about modern art and the best bit of the whole date was when I escaped to the loo for 15 minutes. I'm normally a bit squeamish about toilet matters and men (well, anyone) but I didn't care if he thought I was having a cr*p the size of the turbine hall as long as I got a break from him!

    Now that was funny.

I also hate the 1 line messages (and being called hun by a total stranger). My profile has lots of things to make conversation about such as films, music etc but no, they ask ‘hows u hun’ – normally I reply to all messages even if it’s a thanks but no thanks but 1 liners don’t even get that!

Can't you just tell them you already have one ar5ehole in your knickers?

Hahahahaha! I like it! to be honest though they have already wasted enough of my life with me reading a crappy 1 line message, I wouldnt want to waste anymore with replying (plus some of them would take that as a come-on!!!!)

Coin Girl, i'd mention it as soon as they asked. After one or two messages you'll no doubt get asked 'what do you do'. Without going into all in the outs just say you're not working at the moment 'cos you're poorly sick, but have got one or two irons in the fire and hope to start work again soon, at least part time.
Don't make an issue out of it and if you go on to meet you can explain more when you have more time.

I think that's a great answer. I wouldn't put it on your profile, but I'd slip it into conversation fairly early on to save you wasting your time if it does put someone off.

Ok , Im going to be completely honest and admit I am on several sites (girls gotta keep her options open!) Im on:
    POF
    Smooch
    Okcupid
Oasis (where I have met the guy I have a date with)
    Freedating.com
    Evow

I'm 'only' on POF and OKC at the moment, might try a couple of the other free ones, although I do see the same people cropping up just on those two so not sure if it's worth it.

Totally agree! I'm on POF and Smooch (did also go on Match but I'm not paying to meet someone until I'm really desperate ie never!) and the ones that say, for example 'hi hows you' 'hi hun wanna chat' 'hey sarah your profile looks lovely do you have a cam or msn' just gets no answer. Quick flirts, winks, smoochables, forget it, if a man can't even make the effort to write 2 or 3 lines with just a little bit of proof that he's read what I've written then it doesn't bode well for the future does it?

By the way my name isn't Sarah I'm making the point that people like that just send out the same email to 99 girls and hope for replies.:rotfl:

I've got a few chats going with people who sent me emails asking about something that I'd written in my profile, to me it shows they are interested and have some level of intelligence, and it's going OK so far, just enjoying the conversation!

  • I had a message yesterday saying I was beautiful and that he really liked my profile. When I looked at it again I realised that he accidentally copied and pasted the date and time of when he presumably first sent that message (last Sat) to someone else :rotfl:

  • I've never done the copy and paste thing, I always try to send a message asking about something on there profile, or there intrests.

Don't get many response but I do try

If anyone wants to see just look for 'ChandlerOL2' on POF that's mine

I'm sure you'll find someone soon. If you messaged me I would reply, we seem to be looking for a similar sort of thing- someone who is genuine and who wants an actual relationship. I live 200 miles away though :p

I've just had a lovely message from someone who it seems like I could have a lot in common with. He even recently did a charity run for the charity that I volunteer for. He is 11 years older than me though which I think is a bit too much of an age gap (I'm 24, I don't really want to date someone who is over 30). It seems like all the people who I get nice messages from are either too old for me or live no where near me.
