If you are happy with your life the way it is then you would not go on dating sites.

I disagree, not sure why you think that, you may be happy with things, but still are missing that special one.

As for me, losing faith with the whole thing, though not likely to meet anyone any other way unfortunately.

I don't feel it's a case of not being happy, i don't wake up every morning saying "Woe is me" why is life so terrible to me. I'm always happy in myself but, i'd srill like to improve it.

I unfortunately don't have much of a social life, have friends/colleagues at work, but they have their own life etc, I'm about 90 miles away from my friends, but they are in relationships, so have their own life.

I think some of you on here need a helping hand because it seems some of you may be attracted to other members on here but are afraid to break the ice by making the first move.

So this is what I will do. I will act as a sort of mediator and ice breaker, so if anyone on here fancies any other member but dare not tell them then if that member cares to PM me, I will contact the other person and break the ice that way for you. there will be no charge for this, I will do it out of the goodness of my heart.:j

I think it does get harder to meet people when you get older. I work with mainly women & although we do socialise a bit, it is usually with their partners & their already married friends.
I do find this thread to be an interesting read as an outsider. I think it also shows that compared with more traditional methods of meeting someone it becomes far more complex.

The list of requirements for one. If you met someone in real life, no profile used to sell themselves you'd probably not come across some of those dislikes until much later, which depending on that person may not turn out to be such an issue.

Online it must be very difficult not to become very pessimistic if you are doing it for any great period of time.

I do wonder if the many people I know that have been happily long term coupled up would have even got as far as chatting or a date based on profiles they'd write. I honestly think that there's a good chance they'd wouldn't have if they'd used that method.

That is a good point about profiles. I'm getting more pessimistic by the day :D

Happiness - I'm happy in most areas of my life, & I don't think that I need a man in order to be happy. But I am getting fed up with not having someone to share things with.
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D
