Personality is very important obviously but looks are too. There has to be some physical attraction there too, and anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves.

Completely agree on this though when I’ve mentioned it before on this thread I’ve been called shallow!

Unfortunately though, I want someone who I find attractive both inside and out – I want to look at the person and think ‘fwaor!’ that’s not to say I go for the standard tall dark and handsome (I actually prefer fair hair/ginger) – my idea of someone being attractive maybe isn’t someone elses idea but if they don’t float my boat its not being shallow, its being sensible.

As Cher said in Clueless ‘You’ve seen how picky I am about my shoes and they only go on my feet!’

    Hey all

    How are you doing?

1940'2 Gal welcome to the singles area here.

The first half of the last decade was great, lots of massive leaps technologically (I personally I like the technology side of history)

Never said it couldn't. If you knew my relationship history you'd understand why i think the above.

Very true - apologies if that was a little to harsh:wave:
  • Well I've finally bitten the bullet & joined a dating site

Not sure if it is the right thing to do, but I'm certainly not getting on well with relationships in real life, so maybe this is worth a try?

I have friends (most of whom fall into the smug married camp) who assure me that "It will happen when you stop looking", that "There is somone for everyone" & even "That at your age maybe you should just accept that you'll be on your own forever, after all your other relationships didn't work out too well, did they?". Not sure that last one is actually from a true friend at all :rotfl:

So last night I trawled through various photos of myself, looking for one where both eyes were open & I didn't appear to be grimacing (not an easy quest I assure you all), managed to upload it (go me ) & agonised over my profile.....

Only to have it rejected by "support" this morning :(

Can't help thinking it is not an auspicious start!
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

  • Hi all, update is I am now engaged!:j

Went to edinburgh weekend before last and he proposed, (but we had talked about it before), chose a sterling silver ring from orkney jewellery (I dont like diamonds and gold and pearls), I chose this ring as its silver.

We have a lot to do like finishing his house so daughter can live there on her own, then he move into mine but we are happy and he has just bought an mx5, as we are all classic car mad. I love the guy so much and hes a big softy like me and absolutely fantastic and always supports me.

    Everyone is happy for us.

We are both very lucky and connect so well. Hes my soul mate and I cant imagine life without him by my side. Im sure my late father is sat on his cloud smiling for me.:D:rotfl::T

    awesome news butterfly

Still looking here, but not putting huge amounts of effort in to be fair due to work and having to sort out a car to get me around due to mine being very rickety now.

    How is everyone else

I have registered on the Guardian site but I'm not subscribing anytime soon. I'm happy as I am though to be honest, if something changes, so be it, but I'm in no rush.

    Meh ya know.

Lots of time to be on my own, but wouldn't mind some one to spend it with.
