Hellllllllllllllllllooooooooooooooo children, my friends date went very well yesterday, what do you lot reckon....seeing as you are probably a bit wiser than me, my brain is addled from too many of these blinkin sites Lol!!

Thats great, glad it went well! :D I would be inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt because he had the decency to mention it straight off :)

I'm sure she'll find out more as time goes by, but you both sound like sensible folks and you'll catch him out if he's stringing her along ;)

Like a CV review :D I have done a couple and once they made little changes they bagged dates.

It can help to have someone else look at your profile and give an honest opinion, there is a review section on pof but it is mainly for the Americans and they have some strange views on dating and can be really rude.

i asked Lisa to check over my POF profile when i joined,as i was new to internet dating and at 43,completely clueless!
she was a real sweetie, and gave some good ideas,i'd give her a reference!

This is fast becoming my fave MSE saving thread, thanks guys :j

Must say my strangest experience was with a guy on pof who lived about 30 mins away, we chatted everyday via an instant messenger for hours and one night i just told him to come on over (yes i know that breaks all the 'rules'). Well anyway he got three streets away and called me asking for directions then he never showed up, thought he really had died or something. There's pretty unlikely he could have ended up getting the street name without actually being in it. I guess my Cornish southern drawl on the phone scared him off, ooooo arrrrrghhhh and i never heard from him again- how rude

He didn't actually die in case your wondering, as he logged back in to POF to check his messages a couple of hours later. Talk about getting cold feet :rotfl:

    sleepless

i just spat my wine out at that!!!
is it a bad sign i enjoy reading this thread MORE than trying to find a love interest on POF???????

    Me too :rotfl:
  • Ta sunny_d thats what we thought, but she had a long relationship with someone who really lied to her big time in the end, that was her boys father, then another twit, who ended up telling her that, not only was he married, but he had met another woman AND had two children with her during the time they had been together, they were SIX YEARS into the relationship, this bloke had three women on the go at the same time....funny thing is she's still friends with him, a further six years on  As far as she knows he is down to one woman now, but he is a house husband and has plenty of time to go to coffee mornings - please read that in the style of kenneth williams a la carry on camping etc lol!

Speaking of profiles and replying to people, we have really had to stop ourselves from writing things like, Are you wearing that suit for a bet, or did your wife pick it out for you? or Such a shame you were in bed when you took your profile photo, it's terrible when your struck down with flu like that! But I find it is actually more effective to wear pyjamas, then you sweat it out sooner and feel - and look- much better! And the ultimate for the photo enthusiasts.........after they send you a nude shot, message them straight away and say, Oh hello XVXXDXXX I thought I should let you know that someone with a really small p***s has stolen your phone and sent me a photo of themselves, I do hope you get it back, bye .:rotfl:

    And then block!!!

lol! I'm fed up looking at guys profile pics with the nickname - for example 'Smiley' When they are clearly not in the pic or - 'happy go lucky, like a laugh' when it looks like a mugshot pic. Oh and has anyone seen profile pics taken from CCTV? Weird! :rotfl:

no,the worst in my opinion are the ones where the bloke is stood in a bathroom, naked from waist up and taking their own photo-yuk!

You two have just described all my photos... darn!
  • Oh we love the guys who look like the terrible photo's the nigerian scammers use, some poor bloke who's had his driving licence nicked and photocopied in Lagos :rotfl: sad thing is there will be some that are fake photo's and they will be real scammers, also the unbelievable ones of men who are obviously models and the photos have been retouched etc, a real bugbear of ours is the ones where men have their children in the photos, ok if they are over 16, but we think it's bad form to have your younger children on show, and it is usually the men that claim to be single dads, don't like it one bit.
