Home Made Oven Chips

I cut my unpeeled spud into whatever shape I fancy. Put on a plate in the microwave to par cook, the larger the pieces, the longer I microwave. A whole medium sized potato takes 5 minutes to par cook, so cook in proportion to that.
Season, use a small amount of olive oil to grease a foiled baking tray - cook in oven for 20-25 mins. I also BBQ my whole potatoes too.An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:

I am no expert in property but have lived in many types of homes, in many locations and can only talk from experience.0 -
OP I have the actifry and use it a LOT. No smell in the house and that bit of crunch and taste that we all crave from time to time. I really fancied fish and chips the other night after a full, shattering, day spent on grandchild-minding and then de-cluttering a cupboard. It would have taken 30 minutes to drive out to get fish and chips and in that time I had cooked chips in the actifry and sliced up a tin of lean corned beef and a couple of dark red, juicy tomatoes. I reckon to have saved at least £6 not counting petrol. All in all it would take 24 cooking sessions with the actifry and I have paid for it.
To do oven wedges etc, I would have to put the oven on at a far higher energy cost. I LOVE it and it really showed its worth over christmas and guilt-free only using a teaspoon or two of any oil0 -

Kittie - don't please!!! I was at Lakeland yesterday and spent £130 - and had to tear myself away from the actifry... I can justify these things myself without you adding to the list of reasons for me to get one!!Happiness is not getting what you want - it's wanting what you have
(I can't remember the originator!)0 -

couldn't find anything about chips made with lasagne, but found this WW recipe online:
"If you're cooking Mexican food at home, there are loads of ways you can cut the fat. You can make your own tortilla chips by scissoring uncooked tortilla pancakes or flour wraps (which you'll find in most supermarkets) into wedges, sprinkling with seasoning such as garlic salt or chilli and baking in a medium oven for 10 minutes until crisp. You can use low-fat yogurt instead of sour cream and just add a sprinkling of cheese to your tacos and enchiladas to add flavour, rather than fat."0 -
I gave up buying frozen chips when the kids discovered that I can make HM spicy wedges. Probably doesn't save them much in fat content as they smother mayo (lightest though!) on them, I don't so is better for me! So much cheaper even with HM spice mix"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

I chip my potatoes, usually into wedges, toss in a bit of flour (seasoned if required) and bake for about 30 mins. I found they get crispier and cook quicker this way rather than adding any oil:hello:0

This is another one for those wanting to limit their fat intake - saw it on a TV cookery programme, can't remember which one, thought it wouldn't work but tried it and was impressed and always do HM oven wedges this way now.
Very lightly oil a baking sheet. Whip up an egg white til lightly frothy. Give chips/wedges a very light coat of egg white and put in oven as normal.0
