I par boil my wedges for 10 mins unitl starting to soften. Then I spray them all over with Fry light - to reduce the fat content. Then bake in a hot oven for about 30 mins.
Me too, I have been doing them that way for years................September grocery budget........trying for £80, not sure if I will make it though!!!!! I certainly did not last month, lost track of the final bill. Will do better this month honest.

I don't even microwave them, I cut each potato into 6 wedges, lay them on a baking tray, spray them with oil, grind salt & pepper on them and put them in the oven for half an hour. Turn out lovely every time!
exactly how i do mine:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0 -
i do mine raw, in a bowl with a little oil, spices, on a tray and bake.0

I cook from raw as well, seasoning the potato wedges or slices and brushing with olive oil. HM are loads nicer than the frozen bought kind. Also, if you line your baking tray with baking parchment they seem to cook a bit quicker, they don't stick and your tray only needs a quick wipe afterwards.0

i never nuke mine or par boil. i cut into stick and put a bowl with oil and make sure fully coated, then i place them on a tray and make sure i turn them 2 or 3 times. come out perfect.
i use a tray like a chip pan basket thingy. hard to explain. but makes chips nice and crispy.0 -
can i ask: is it really necessary to peel the skins off? i would rather notBLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!

I use spray oil aswell, no you don't need to skin them. You can get criper trays with holes in the bottom to use for chips and pizzas which I find helps make them crispy. One day I might be more organised...........

Now, the theory is that I peel and chip some potatoes, roll them in oil then cook them as the packet stuff from the supermarket.
Is that right? DH really likes his chips but I haven't had a chip pan since I set fire to my last one and I have resisted getting a deep fat fryer. (this resolve is eroding steadily, especially as a Lakeland addict into Tefal who has spotted the Actifry at £149 :eek::eek::eek: )
All help sincerely and gratefully received.Always another chapter0 -
I just cut into large chip chunky ones and use a little olive oil and coat them with my hands and bung into the oven at 200 for about 30 - 40 minutes - I actually bought a spray olive oil to do them as its using less oil - they are delicious.Saving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j0
