  • I have a full set of 8 paperback books - the Discovering London series - including the 2 maps that were issued along with them. They are available singly on both amazon mp and eBay ( some on there with part sets but no maps)

Now I know they are not worth that much, presumably more as a set with the maps which i cant list on the MP, but was wondering whether eBay or Amazon auctions might be the best venue? Dont see much about the Amazon auctions on here and wondered what experience folks had of it for such things?

    Advice appreciated!

    Thanks
  • this might sound a bit stupid.....

i have sold 3 books over the weekend....:j ..2 of the where identical books.....

i have now had an email to say.. not to post out as a payment is pending....... but when i have gone to my sold items the order no doesnt tally up with the ones that i have sold..

so does this mean i have a sale pending in cyperspace somewhere....so that means 3 identical books sold ( bought a batch of the same book job lot ;) )

and that the sale/sellers details will come through later ?

as i have had no email to say a sale pending..only do not post book out..sale pending.....

hope all that makes sense...... thanks....

edit...... sorted..... it is a diff.... sale......with no details.... yet...... i feel silly now for asking....lol....

Just to be encouraged...I bought a book from ebay last week which arrived today. It was sold as 'used but in brand new condition'. The actual book arrived with a huge crease top to bottom through at least half of the book, coffee stains on some pages and what looks like biscuits crumbs stuck on back cover. On Amazon I would have worried about listing it even as acceptable.

It seems that as Amazon sellers we are ultra cautious about our book conditions, I have actually had mini panic attacks when I go to pack a book and worry if it isn't quite a perfect as I listed it, but maybe we should chill a bit.

That describes me completely. I'm sure the gremlins get set to my books as soon as they are listed and cover them in creases, stains and dog-ears! :(

I wouldn't send one out if I didn't think it matched up to the condition category that I'd listed it in though. I have just offered the buyer a full refund and sincere apologies in those circumstances. :o

I've also been disappointed when buying books from eBay - particularly with regards to packaging. Personallly, I expect a jiffy bag or some form of protective packaging when sending a book through the post (recycled is fine) and the feedback I leave reflects any disappointment!

eBay book sellers be warned! ;)
