Ebay are robbing b******s, listing fee, final value fee, Paypal fee, and then if you withdraw less than £25.00 from Paypal they charge yet another fee - how many times have I been on a loser, to many times to count.

    Isn't it a £50 limit instead of a £25 when your charged?
  • no £25

as for the auction site where everyones a winner all you have to do is take 2% of the final selling price from the seller and then thats it, no listing fees! paypal is there to protect people. i just leave my money in there as another bank account until it get to £50 but only withdraw multiples of £50. that way always have a little in paypal for the impulse ebay buys.

I have sold yet another 2 books one of which is very heavy, dread to think how much the postage cost will be on it, luckily the same person bought both books so hopefully it will balance out a bit.

Do you have any kitchen scales? if so you can get the postage prices from the Royal Mail website www.royalmail.com and then you won't risk selling a book that will lose you money to post.
You could send a heavy book by Standard Parcel rate at the PO it doesn't have to be by 1st class, you can also use a courier service for around £4 to £6, we had a discussion about this over on the amazon thread that funkyfunkymonkey linked to in his reply on this thread - I'll see if I can find it and bring it back here.....

OK, have a read from post 596 + there are a few cheaper ways to send a heavy book

I have just had my first book sold on Amazon after 4 hours and I must say im pretty chuffed, well its only £1.90 and I still have to pay for P&P but its a start.

Any hints and/or tips to keep my P&P costs down would be gratefully received and also any info to help make successful sales would be appreciated.

Congrats on your first Amazon sale. :) I've merged your post in with the existing Amazon selling thread as you will find loads of useful advice about pricing books and maximising sales and profit on here.

    Good luck! ;)

so if anyone has 'any ' of the books mentioned.......

how does £5.00 CASH sound !!!!
  • Found this today in a listing .... still wondering!

  • I think amazons postage rate is quite fair, I posted a book today that cost me 44p 1st class so i gained an extra £1.82. If it was to go to sellers setting their own postage rate it would create havoc for buyers who will then have to compare so many variables when shopping they probably wont bother. Also the 'big boys' have postage accounts that mean we wouldnt be able to compete.

Ive had a couple of books cost a bomb but had taken that into account with my price so no major loss.

ooooh jus had a quick read thru of the first two posts. They are dead helpful thanks ever so much!!

I am going to set up a seller account now and get cracking!!

Just one quick question if I may?

I have a load of nick arnold horrible science and horrible histories books - is it worth putting in my descriptions of each that I have more from the same series so that people get them all from me?!

Sorry if this is a question which has been answered before... just that there are a lot of pages to read through!!

    TIA
