ooooh jus had a quick read thru of the first two posts. They are dead helpful thanks ever so much!!

I am going to set up a seller account now and get cracking!!

Just one quick question if I may?

I have a load of nick arnold horrible science and horrible histories books - is it worth putting in my descriptions of each that I have more from the same series so that people get them all from me?!

Sorry if this is a question which has been answered before... just that there are a lot of pages to read through!!

    TIA

    Hi Em

    welcome to the thread :hello:

I tried selling the 'horrible' books on Amazon, I mentioned that I had more in each listing but I gave up, I think that the problem with them is that they are small books that are cheap to buy brand new (like Mills & Boon) so it's asking a lot for the buyer to want to buy a second hand one with the p&p added

so u suggest i dont bother?!

Most of the books I have are kids ones actually...
  • I think any book is worth listing for 6 months including the 'horrible' ones but I needed to clear some dead wood for new books so they were the first to be culled, kids books are usually OK.

  • Hi guys,

Hope everyone is having lots of lovely sales!

I've got a question... Do you know if you can export your customer's addresses into an excel file for a certain period of time...for example if I wanted an excel file that had my sales for the last 2 days that had all of my customers addresses in it, is that possible? I know you can export your sales history and you items that are listed but I need addresses.

The reason I ask is because I have just signed up to Smart Stamp and you can do mail merge which makes it quicker to buy postage rather than doing them one at a time, but I need to get my customers addresses into an excel or access file, and I can't find how to do it.

    Thanks for your help

If you're a Pro-Merchant you should be able to generate an order fulfilment report and download that, it should have all the relevent info and is a tab delimited file so if you open with excel or openoffice (MSE TIP! OpenOffice is FREE!) you will get them in a spreadsheet format.

BTW don't you have to pay 5quid a month for a smart stamp account?

  • You will need to be a bit careful, I think, about he Data Protection act and probably register if you are holding people's names and addresses in such a format on your PC. Maybe worth a phone call to the relevant authorities to check???

Thanks rupert, I am a pro-m so I will do that thanks.
You do normally have to pay £5 a month for smart stamp...BUT... if you join and pay for a year in advance it only costs £50 for the year and not £60....AND if you sign up with quidco they give you £30 cashback (and it did track, phew!) which means I am only paying £20 for the whole year, that's only £1.66 a month compared to £5 a month so totally worth it, and now that I have installed it and read the instructions a little I think it is going to save me a lot of time, it is way better than the online postage, and I thought that was good!

I will tell you all about what it does and the benefits when I have played with and actually used it a bit more.

    Thanks for your help rupert.

I won't be 'holding' them on my pc, it will literally be for an hour at most then I can delete them, I won't be storing them, it is just the same as downloading an order fulfilment report, opening the file, printing it and then discarding the paper when you are finished, I don't think it will be an issue as I will not be storing any information. Thanks
