Just had an email from a buyer "Thanks for the book, but I really wanted the tape." My description "Tape missing" nothing else, just that!
I've said I'll refund the price of the book if she returns it, but not the postage cost. Is that reasonable?
Hi RJ
It might be 'reasonable', however, if the buyer puts in a complaint to Amazon they will get the full refund and possibly get to keep the book because you have listed something that is 'materially different' to the AMAZON PRODUCT DESCRIPTION.
Unfortunately that is the risk we all take when we list against something and it is not quite as the product information states. Always assume that the buyer will not read your description and then decide if the risk is worth taking - I've been caught out a few times too

Ive read so many stories like this I often wonder if these buyers do it on purpose to blag some free stuff
ruthiejane, is it too late to get the buyer to mark the package 'return to sender' ?? that way there is no extra cost involved ,

Quick question. Sorry if it sounds silly for your 'pros' but i'm just starting on Amazon.. Somebody asked if i could send a video to Germany.. I had listed only domestic originally.. I edited on my seller account but it still comes up with the 2.75 postage fee which is not enough .. how can I change this? does it change automatically?
Thanks for any adviceA friend is a present which you give yourself (R.Stevenson)

I think that you have to de-list (tell your buyer what you are doing) then re-list it as internationalIf I screw my eyes up tight I can just about see where you're coming from0

If you go to your seller account page and then click on your open listings there is an option to edit each item. One of the edit options is to change to international delivery.0 -

Even when you list internationally, the amount that you are 'quoted' after listing is still the UK rates.
If an overseas buyer does buy the item, the postage allowance will automatically be increased and it will be confirmed on your 'Sold Dispatch Now' email. I think they have different tiers (e.g a European rate, overseas rate etc etc.)
I don't know what the exact allowances are but I have sold a few items to overseas buyers and have always covered the cost of posting and made a bit of profit as well.0 -
thank you. the lady who wants to buy is in the UK but wants me to send to Germany... do they calculate depending on the address or the account?
Just to make sure. thanksA friend is a present which you give yourself (R.Stevenson)

if you can't make amazon work to change it to an international then just put the price of the video up by a couple of pounds than you'll get your money that wayIf I screw my eyes up tight I can just about see where you're coming from0

If you have listed it as available to the EU, then when she puts in the German delivery address the correct postage will be automatically applied by Amazon.
I have purchased books for delivery abroad and been charged the correct rate for the country.
What your buyer must make sure they do is to put in the actual address they want it delivered to, not email you afterwards with the address.
