Thanks, thats great, but as usual this has thrown up yet more questions. Sorry. :A

One of the products I wish to list is available on Amazon.com, but when I select sell an item like this it starts to create one on the Amazon.com site, and I'm not registered there. Is there any way I can get this to list on the UK site?

You have to cheat :rotfl: Dont enter an ISBN and change the title slightly so it doesnt match the item on .Com. You can always go back and edit once the listing is created.

Thanks to Apprentice Tycoon for all the excellent advice :T , I have just sold my first book on Amazon :D I even made a bit on the postage, thanks to the advice on packing 'light but slim'. I'm so pleased, as prior to LBM I would have just sent it to a charity shop. Every little helps!

I came on here this morning to see if there was any advice for me gearing up for my first car boot tomorrow and thought I'd have a quick read in this thread before boxing all my books up - SO glad I did.

Have had a quick peek through my first of three piles of books and I THINK  i may have 2 first editions - could someone just clarify it for me before I stick them on Amamzon (rather than putting them in the 3 for £1 box for tomorrow!)

I have a book called Eurotunnel The Illustrated Journey (Jeremy Wilson/Jeremy Spick) and inside it says

    Published bu HarperCollinspublishers 1995
    135798642

A bit further down it says

    ISBN (Special HArdback Edition) 1 872009 48 4

Had a quick look on the first page of this thread and going by the 1-9 numbers I think this means it is a first edition - and therefore it can quickly come out of the 3 for a £1 pile straight on to Amazon (I'm sure it will stay on there for ages but hey - you never know til you try!) Had a quick look on Amazon and there is a first edition for £9.50 - not big fry to some of you but a right result for me!

The second one I have I'm sure is quite a common one its John Grisham The Broker (HB) that too has the 1-9 numbers?

Any help greatfully appreciated - now off to get the books already boxed up - back out of the car!

  • Sold 2 books in 3 days and both are "pensioner" books in that they've both been on for ages . Really surprised. Got a few more to put on this pm.

Both your books are probably Frirst Editions but to a greater degree it doesnt make any difference to the value. Your Eurotunnel book is non-fiction and the fact it is a First Edition is irrelevant as buyers want the content not what edition it is.

The Grisham book is not really valuable as a First Edition but some Grisham collectors would choose to have a First rather than a later printing.

I should mention that some older non-fiction books which are First Editions can be more valuable but it all depends on the subject and author.

    Hope this helps.

Sold an old paperback of mine for £20 a couple of days ago - quite rare - and went to a jumble today and found another copy !!!! Couldn't believe my luck.... still going through the rest as they were trying to get rid of the books cheaply!!
Gonna be sorting and listing for a while I think....
