  • porkev,

To give you an idea, I currently have 835 items listed and have sold 32 since the 1st of January. However, I am the 1p book queen so my turnover money wise is low ;) And my sales are still random with some weeks with no sales, other times I can sell 3 in a day !!

For those who have been selling on Amazon for a while, how often do you get a chargeback or have to issue a refund due to non delivery? 1 in 100? Or worse than that?

I've been selling on amazon for getting on for 5 years now, I've sold over 1360 items (but less than 400 feedback comments) and only had 2 or 3 that I've had to refund through being lost in the post, I've not had any buyers wanting refunds for other reasons that I can remember.
I mainly sell books and it's assumed that book buyers seem to be the easiest to please

i have been selling on amazon for approx 6 years and i estimate approx 1000 sales in total, i have had 1 attempted chargeback, proof of posting forwarded to amazon stopped that and i can't remember ever having to issue a refund for non delivery

As some of you will know last week I was fortunate enough to have a great find(box full).
One of these finds was Winnie the Pooh, first edition.....

Well I listed it on Ebay last Thurdsay (10p listing day) along with a couple of other books.

Last night I was offered £65.00 for it (it's for sale at £495.00 or offers).

It is very hard saying 'no' to £65.00,but there are several watchers and 5 days left.

Would you have refused it ? Or would you stick it out to the end and wait and see?

I'd be interested to here your feedback........kind regards Bukup

Yes and yes. Even if you don't get what you want this time, you can always re-list in a few days.

  • well i just want to say that reading this post.....made up my mind to list a few books on amazon.......

since the first week of jan i listed 9 books and one playstation game 9 (still sealed)

so far i have sold the playsation game and 6 books ...3 since friday.....

so guess who's hooked now :D

so much easier than listing on ebay.......plus its got more of a liad back feel about it.....compared to ebay..... or is that me......lol......

the books that i had put on amazon were factual..... informative books..... on certain subjects.. not story books....as this is the type of book i would sell on ebay....

but do you sell story books thrillers.. mystery....loooooovvvve books etc.....? how well do they sell ?

as normally i only get these types of books if they are in the same bundle as the ones i am buying....

From another publication 1836 natural history book that was in a shocking state,I salvaged the pictures.Although I listed 22 on ebay.com (it worked out at 17p with gallery per listing),I did actually sell 5 at $9.99.....so after fees I made approx £20.00.
Illustrations/prints or plates as they are referred too, can and do generate a good turnover,so remember if you have a book that has great illustrations or interesting/unusual ones in it,it could be worth many times more than you think.
Old illustrated dictionaries are a classic example, the information in the book is usually followed by pictures. As most of these old dictionaries are a dead weight, not many sell.If you were to remove the pictures the possibilities of what you can earn are great....maybe £4.99 per picture or $9.99 on ebay.com-it soon adds up.
I hope this helps someone....kind regards Bukup
