Oooooo, I know an answer
You get an email which has a little printable packing slip at the bottomSometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -

If anyone fancies buying a book about german shepheard dogs for £150 let me know0 -

ps."do you need to put a stamp on first?"
sorry if i look dumb but ive never posted packages before:rolleyes:
im new to this game.......
Hi wombat678
Don't worry about asking anything. There's no such thing as a stupid question - it's the rules of this site!
When you have packaged up your book, you just need to take it to a PO counter and ask to send it second or first class (as you choose.)
Parcel rates are only really needed for heavier books - the average paperback can go first or second class just like a letter.
And, no - you don't need to put any stamps on. The PO will either print out a label or stick the stamps on themselves. Also remember to get 'proof of posting' as well.
Good luck with the sales.0 -

Should I be checking anything else?
And can I still list the book as the other ISBN no? But it doesn't seem right to do this!
Any advice would be much appreciated.
It depends how much you want to gamble it!Personally, if a book appears almost identical but the ISBNs are different then I've listed it under that category. I've pointed out that the covers are identical but the ISBN is different and listed the ISBN of my copy in the description.
Sometimes this happens because one copy is a Book Club edition. If it is, make sure you point this out as some buyers are put off by Book Club editons.
(I think the official Amazon line would be that you shouldn't list it if the ISBNs are identical but I've sold a few like this without any problems...yet.)0 -
hi everyone,
just to say what a pathetic effort i made for my first ever amazon challenge:rotfl: set myself a nice easy target on the 1st, 10 books before the 31st of january hit the ground running and sold 3 books in the first 2 days since then 1 sale and 3 pendings that went tits up and i think it will need a big effort in the last 2 days to make it:eek:
so that was not very good and amazon keep sending me 1/2 price pro membership emails and i was thinking about it as well, what a plonker:
oh well upward and onward into february, as my school reports used to say MUST TRY HARDER:D
cheers:beer:one day my ship will come in and with my luck i will be at the airport:rolleyes:

I just wanted to say a big thanks for all the advice given at the start of this thread. I listed a few books on Amazon over the weekend with the help of this thread and I've just had my first sale.
Thanks again,

I think that could be it. My Mum got it for me and I imagine she would have bought it from a book club. I didn't realise that the ISBN no would be different though. Thats what I've learnt today
Thanks Jo
EDIT - just checked the inside of the book & it does say 'the edition produced for the book people'. I would never have noticed that before!Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -

Hi Porkev - don't beat yourself up about it, unless you have hundreds and hundreds of books listed its a fairly unpredictable business. No rhyme or reason to sales as far as I can tell. I've only been selling since last April and tried the challenge we did before Xmas by looking at monthly sales and going for one higher than the highest [failed that in the end] but sales varied from 4 up to 9 a month. I've only got about 150 listed fairly consistently and the ones I think will go don't and the ones I think I might be stuck with do go.....Stick at it though - those SDN emails are so addictive :j
A few folk several threads ago did work out how many on average you need to have listed to sell x number of books but I can't remember the figure - maybe someone will be along who CAN remember.
Good Luck

Well done Susie on your first sale - its very addictive you'll be scouring lofts, garages, friend's bookshelves [or is that just me], bootfairs and charity shops for likely sales before you know it
:rotfl: Good luck
