I've just bought a gift for my wonderful manager who is leaving work.
It is rather tall and delicate and M&S did not supply it in a box. I went into the card shops and to get a box to fit was £6...eeek. Anyway went home and sorted through my supply of fancy carrier bags people have given me with a gift in and found one that looks just like new a saving of the initial £6 plus or a saving of £3.50 for a new bag.0 -

I hate buying wrapping paper for a specific occasion, so it is always neutral. Recently bought a large red roll in Costco for about £7, will last me years and when I had to let a friend use it (strangely she decided that her son would not be too impressed with pink wrapping paper) recently, I discovered that the back of it is actually grid marked, so hopefully should become an expert in cutting straight & only cutting the necessary amount.
I bought a roll of gold paper from there about 10 years ago and keep it in a stocking to protect it, I'm sure it replenishes itself when I'm not looking.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -

I know what you're saying - it;s just the thought of it
I am not criticising any-one for doing that though...Even when you feel like you have nothing, someone else has far less. Find them and help them. You’ll see why.....0 -
I believe they did use to have reusable condons during the war... WWII but maybe someone else can clarify?!!
Well don't know about WWII, but my grandfather was a father of 12 and the neighbours felt sorry for my grandmother. They apparently had a whip round and bought a reusable condom. He was apparently disgusted at such a gesture and I doubt he ever used it.
What date am I talking about? Well my mother was the youngest and she was born in 1913 so we are talking before WWI0 -

Me,well I squash the roll and always blow my nose before using it elsewhere. I also have a roll in the car ,to use instead of tissues for snotty noses,or to clear mist off the mirror. I just assume its cheaper than tissues, has anyone done a cost comparison on this?
Toilet paper is cheaper! Especially if you buy it in bulk...I usually buy 12 or 16 rolls at a time.
Cos you're not paying for the tissue box.
Cant remember what the actual saving or cost is thoughEven when you feel like you have nothing, someone else has far less. Find them and help them. You’ll see why.....0 -

The toilet brushes were 50p from Asda and we worked opposite Asda; i had visions of somebody using blue rubber pee mats as coasters.
Honestly! The things people steal!!

And of course...trawl through the reduced wrapping paper after Xmas in the sales looking for non-christmassy stuff is always worthwhile. Plain gold/silver/red/green/irridescent suitable all year round.
TBH in the family we don't usually bother with wrapping paper anymore as we all think it's a waste of paper/money
I've bought people pressies and stuck them in a reusable gift bag before. One of those little handy shoppers that fold into a little bag, or one year I had some of Mr T's photobags done onto hessian, I used pictures of our dogs (one wearing an Xmas hat and the other snowflake deelyboppers) they went down really well with my Mum and my middle daughter and they are both using them still.

Jeeze, when I read that I thought you meant you used the tooth brush to clean - I had to go back and re-read it a couple of times :rotfl:"There is no substitute for time."
