    Technically theft.

Technically Nonsense. You've paid for it in the room charge. Same goes for "free" shampoos, shower gels, (and in Spain, bottles of eau de cologne).

Most of the items are scarcely worth taking, but I take the unused coffee home, and I still enjoy a dab of eau de colgne on hot nights!

    Totally agree!
If it was a problem for hotels they would stop providing them, wouldn't they?

Even if i took the sachets of sugar that they put on my saucer (I don't have sugar in tea), I don't see that as theft...I paid £1.50 or whatever for the cuppa and the price includes sugar, doesn't it?

However I wouldnt take handfuls of sachets, just what they give you in the first place.

  • Apart from the person who 'minesweeps' the only other moneysaving idea to bother me is the people who blow their nose and then use the other side to wipe their bums. You really should not be doing this, as you could transfer the germs from your nose to your privates, which could give you a nasty infection. I remember years ago being told that it takes 10 sheets of toilet roll to prevent the transfer of germs - i prefer to use less paper and wash my hands with soap than waste all that paper, but if that is true, im surprised if the people who have been doing this have not ever had some sort of infection down there.

I do this and don't see that there is a problem with it as when I go to the loo, I use a few sheets and paper and fold them in half anyway (I've yet to come across a roll thick enough that you don't need to fold). Therefore, I usually give my nose a quick wipe (not a full on blow!), fold the paper in half and away I go.

I've been testing how many times I can re-use one teabag today :) have got it to 4 cups so far, dare I try for another time?? Probably helps that they are Tes*o Scottish Blend ones so probably stronger than other brands might be.

Away to put the kettle on!

nope, 4 cups is my limit! still quite impressive I think esp considering I like my tea quite strong :)

I cannot find anything anywhere that gives information about any sort of infection being spread in this way - all the (rather delightful) information I can find talks of transfer of germs going from the bottom to the top, rather than there being any risk of it happening the other way around.

a lady at church who used to be a missionary told me once that when she was away, she used to receive parcels of used, dried teabags & she really looked forward to them. it was the only tea she had.
I felt really sorry for her.

I'm happy to reuse my teabag for a second cup straight away - but wonder as to the subject of germs if its left standing and damp for hours before being reused?
