;47837693]Now this is what I dont agree with. Hotels sachets fair enough they put enough for you to use, but do you say you grab handfuls from a cafe?
This is not on - this cafe could possibly be family owned rather than a large corp and its they;re money paying for these things - they do cost money.
I agree, some things people are taking is not being saver savvy it's kleptomania!0 -

If I owned a small cafe and saw someone pocketing piles of sugar sachets or whatever, it'd be the last time they'd be welcome (and they'd be out the door pretty quickly too having put the sachets back!)
Sorry where did meanjean say she collects handfuls??
I watched the staff in one cafe clearing the tables and they just threw the sachets that were left on the table, in the bin!
Even though they hadnt been used!!Even when you feel like you have nothing, someone else has far less. Find them and help them. You’ll see why.....0 -
;47836895]2p saved per kettle boil, £1000 a ticket, I reckon 5000 boiled kettles should do this.
Based on, say, 4 a day, 1250 days, about 4 years - LOL !
Sometimes it can be hard to see where a real money saving event has occurred, I watched the shoppers in ASDA just about fight for reduced beef, picked up one myself, but then thought about it - took a walk down the meat aisle and found much bigger chunks for significantly less. It was a different cut, but it's going in the slow cooker anyway, after 8 hours it'll all be the same. The reduced ones were down from £8 to £4 but the ordinary not-so-terrific-but-bigger joints were £3.60 - and I wouldn't pay £3.60 for a single joint of meat that I'm going to casserole anyway. When they make the £3.60 one £1.90 I'll buy it.
I was briefly fooled by the "saving" rather than the product. I try to repeat my mantra when I see a "good deal", would I have bought the economy one off the shelf at this price? if not, then I don't need a reduced one at that price either.
Went at 9:30pm last night, got a jar of Nutella for 10p with a crack in the lid, yay!"There is no substitute for time."
Competition wins:
2013. Three bottles of oxygen! And a family ticket to intech science centre. 2011. The Lake District Cheese Co Cow and bunny pop up play tent, cheese voucher, beach ball and cuddly toy cow and bunny and a £20 ToysRus voucher!0 -

Stealing sauce sachets, salt etc - same here Same as above, if its been taken and left on the table, it will be thrown so might as well take it with you.
Re-using car park tickets - its your fault if you get caught because you know its wrong I dont do this, and most places are now ticketed as you go in, but if someone wants to take the risk then thats up to them.
Minesweeping drinks - Puh-lease! I agree, yuk - anything could be in it!
Going through skips - Eww! Whats one mans rubbish is another mans treasure - its not as if people are going through general waste!
Washing machine at 30C only - surely it doesn't get everything clean? If it did why do they make washing machines with higher temps? My old washing machine didnt go as low as 30, but my new one does, it means they are finding new ways of doing things more energy efficient, not that low is bad and high is good.
Not flushing the toilet - Are you really that desperate to save the water? Yes, i am that desperate to save money - im on a water meter and every flush is costing me money.
Im a single parent on a low wage, so if i can save money anywhere i will. This year for Christmas we are visiting friends in Australia, more money saving there, but even so, there is no way i could do that if i didnt find every single way of saving money. If you are fortunate enough not to have these worries, then great - im a bit surprised you are here on the embarrassing ways to save money if you are going to rubbish peoples ways of trying to save themselves a few pennies.
You'll need it ofr Oz, I was there last Xmas, we only ateout twice in a month as it was so expensive due to bad exchange rate so ate at my friends house, great cook luckily!, But when you go round the supermarket you will be shocked by the prices, worked out at £4.65 for an average loaf of bread, even fruit and veg expensive, £1 for a lime, £4 for a cauliflower, Avocados about £3 each. Alcohol, no special offers, you have to go to booze shops, bottle of spirit about £40, case of beers about the same, you can get 3 cases here for £20 so was a surprise to find no competition between the stores there as you have no choice but to go there. Two main supermarkets and they don't bother trying to compete, be glad we have some consumer power in this country.
It also rained most of the month, I hope you have a better experience than I did!0 -

I wouldnt want to blow my nose then use the same tissue any-where on my body!
I may wanna save money and the planet, but that is going too far. LOL!Even when you feel like you have nothing, someone else has far less. Find them and help them. You’ll see why.....0 -

Not being funny though but I cant afford to visit Australia. Flights aint cheap last time I looked - not far shy of £1000?
I certainly wouldnt compromise my quality of life just for this....
Actually, yes you can afford a visit to Australia - its just that you prioritise other things, ie food.
If you were to cut your grocery spend in half, and made some minor adjustments to your lifestyle, you could afford a trip before you knew it!
I used to spend a fortune on... well... everything really!!! Couldn't afford holidays (at least I didn't think I could) etc... Now my income is less than half what it was but I go abroad at least twice a year, preferably 3 times and people often ask "how the hell can you afford that?"
Its because I.... am.... Frugal :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
