Take it easy, and let your body get used to the new heart!

As far as sleeping upright is concerned - I've had to do it for some time. I prop lots of pillows against the bedhead, some at a slight angle, so that I'm slightly reclined. It's not easy, but you will get used to it. If the pillows slip, I wake up gasping for breath, so I know it's worth persevering!

.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
  • This is great news.
I'm amazed your on here already, when my husband had his kidney and pancreas last christmas eve he was knocked out in intensive care for 3 days.
I know it from the side of the recipients family and the waiting before and while he was in theatre was the worse thing I've ever gone through but the feeling when we knew he was through it was amazing.

Hope you feel better soon but you'll need to rest and take it easy for a bit not try and do too much just because you feel better.

Best wishes for a swift recovery! My mum had to sit upright (she had a bad heart, but they identified it too late for any help :( but it was some years ago now) She used to use one of those L-shaped pillows and pad it out with extra pillows - seemed to work for her, and once you are fighting fit, they're great for reading in bed!
