I've been comping in the past few months - haven't won anything yet but still...

I too have a separate email address for comps entries.

One thing which I have thought about is whether you can win comps if you decline to be entered on to mailing lists. I do wonder if the computer that registers entries discards those that have opted out...

Almost without exception the ones posted on MSE are fine. The lads and lasses on there know their stuff and won't post the dodgy spammy ones. You get the odd one posted by a beginner so read the sticky threads at the top to give you an idea of the pitfalls.......... then enjoy

I have utmost admiration for the compers's determination and doggedness. I did some comping a while back but I'm just not prepared to put in all that time. Great to see when they win something big. Incidentally, two of my regular mse friends are stalwart compers fire**fly and Lakshmi7. :A
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

they are vetted by the comp experts on this site, you might be wise set up a seperate email for competition entries as the only downside can be spam and you do have to really look through it all (including your junk mail) to see if youve got a winning email notification (wem)

ive had most success from the magazine competitions, ie take a break, chat, etc which are usually listed by tttjay and korky the kat

over the past year and half ive won an ipod nano, 500 pounds worth of shopping vouchers, a toshiba laptop, cheques from magazines, a kenwood smoothie maker, a huge bottle of whiskey and more recently 50 pounds worth of amazon vouchers

you do have to do alot, some compers have time to enter in excess of 200 competitions a day, i usually managed around 50 odd and i havent had time to do many lately but come the holidays i shall try and catch up

How safe and good are they? never entered any from that area of the forum but I might start trying but I always worry about them being legit esp those on fb.

I've moved this over to the Comps discussion thread where you'll get lots of good advice from other compers :)

and check out the compers guide (link in my sig)

    Hi.

Random question about comping but been wondering this for a while.

    When you have a question and the answers come in 1. 2. 3. or a. b. c. .....

Do you type the number/letter and answer? or just the answer?

Was wondering this the other day when I was doing the femalefirst comps.

    Thanks :o

I was just about to ask the same question. I have been copying & pasting the full answer, but I'm not sure if this is the right thing to do?

I wouldn't thin k that it makes a bit of difference.Personally I just C&P the answer from MSE & post that on.
  • Hi,

Sorry if i've posted this in the wrong place!!

Just wondered if next year when we come to do the advent calendar again could we not create a new section for just the advent competitions? (Like IWIWIW, Game Over etc)

The reason i was think this was because all the normal competitions get mixed in with the advent comps and if you just want to look through just normal competitions you cant.

Just wondered if anyone else agreed?
