Well done, the 1st win is so exciting remember mine a few months ago.x x0

thanks weeowens, that makes sense
thanks to all for their help0 -
The thanks thing can work either way. Someone might only make one post on here and that post might be thanked by 100 people, so then the figures would be thanked 100 times on one post. At the other end of the scale, someone might post 100 times and only 1 person thanks any of the posts.0

I think it was more about the members with high posts listed on thanks but not in actual live posts,if you see what I mean eg one member shows as:
Thanked 77,788 Times in 8,386 Posts
I'd say it's just the member deleting as they go,which is there perogative :-)0 -
Just wondered if next year when we come to do the advent calendar again could we not create a new section for just the advent competitions? (Like IWIWIW, Game Over etc)
The reason i was think this was because all the normal competitions get mixed in with the advent comps and if you just want to look through just normal competitions you cant.
QUOTE]
I am mystified at how many people seem to struggle to ignore the advents. To me it just means you have to scroll through more pages to find the one-off comps, it's not that much of a big deal. Mind you I've marked a lot of the Advents as "entered" which makes it nice & clear that I can ignore them when I'm going through the pages for other comps.
If they were all clearly marked ADVENT in the title that might help a bit... but it's hard enough getting people to include Facebook, Twitter, Blog or Email in the title for those compers who don't like particular entry methods so that's probably a lost cause. Most of them are marked as Advents but not all and that's probably as good as we're going to get! Also the distinction between a Daily and an Advent isn't entirely clear - there is a definite overlap there.
My understanding is that to create an offshoot board (like IWIWIW or whatever) is quite a big effort and this would be disproportionate for a temporary thing like Advent comps. And while *we* may think the comps board is the main purpose for the existence of the MSE Forums, I believe some people disagree - including the people who actually provide them to us free of charge. It's kind of difficult to argue with them
Just resign yourself to scrolllers' finger, that's my advice0 -

Hi everyone. I'm new to the whole comping thing so please bare with me.
I have found a comp that I would like to post. It's a facebook comp and all it requires is that you 'like' the page. Each month they pick someone at random to get a prize from their stock. It's very nice stuff too!
The problem is that I've looked back through the old posts on the fb page and it appears that you have to collect the win from their store. It's an independent store so it's not something that is suitable for the whole of the UK. Is there a particular rule for posting comps that are suitable for people who live in a specific area/region?
I've tried looking through the various threads on how to use the forum for comping but nothing is jumping out at me.
EDIT
I've searched to see if someone else has posted this comp and it doesn't appear that they have a although someone has posted the separate advent comp that they are also running.0 -

Regarding geographical restrictions on entry or requirements to collect - that isn't a problem but you need to put details in the title so that compers at the other end of the country can skip past it eg:
E: DD/MM Win a doo-dah (FB, collect Plymouth, PL postcodes only)
This particular comp however, sounds like a ONCEONLY comp similar to THIS ONE where you FB-like once and are entered into subsequent monthly draws indefinitely. This should be posted as a new thread on the REGULAR BOARD with a title like
E: ONCEONLY various prizes monthly from ACME Co (FB - collect Plymouth)
You also need to put a link to your comp in THIS THREAD so Glad can put it in the index of Once Only comps.0 -
