this comp isn't in regs, it's on the main board as it has an end date, if you read my post I basically said with weeklies it's up to the OP wether the thread has an overall enddate or is posted each week, this one has the overall enddate and people have been updating it each week
that's why it's linked in the weekly sticky, if it was posted each week it wouldn't need to be :)

I've been posting it weekly on the main board for the reasons already stated but for the last 2 weeks its been merged into the weekly thread.

If I post again tomorrow with the new question & end date, will it end up on that thread as well?
  • and as far as monthnlies....it was decided that they would ALL be posted as a new thread each month....yet there are more and more creeping in where the op is posting them with an overall end date or are changing the end date a few days before it would need reposted, which means us end date compers miss out until the very last entry. any of those i spot i do send to a bg to be dealt with. we have missed out quite a few of those that were in the monthly thread because they are not being posted each month. those of you who never ventured near the thread are not misisng anything you didnt miss before, those of us who used it are missing comps we used to enter *shrugs*

and it was suggested that all reg board stuff gets moved to main.....and that wasnt very popular with everyone either due to the extra threads.

i wonder if moving the reg stickies onto main (and unstickying them) so they only get bumped when someone posts like tab and puzzler do, would make them easier to find/use........

the reason merges have probably been requested is because the original thread has an enddate of 01/12 on the title, so will stay on the main board until then, when you post a new thread each week that means there are 2 threads on the main board and people will report it as a dupe

as I've said weeklies get posted both ways, (some posted new each week, some in an onoing thread) but 1 comp shouldn't be posted both ways at the same time, it's either or :)

I've already said that I changed the end date in good faith, really wish I hadn't now.

    So, here's the plan:

I'm going to change the end date of that thread to 18/11 & post a new one for the new question tomorrow.

All in favour say aye ...........

i know you tried toniq (i think there were a few of you tried but other things or time etc made it harder, which is f/e), i wasnt having a go at those of you who did and now dont for whatever reason.....i just miss the thread and then when i find comps that have been running for 3 or 4 months as monthly comps on the day before the last chance entry i get to missing it more :( i may not have got through it every month but at least when i had time and inclination i could check it for new comps posted with the final end date, which is no longer an option.

firefly yeh it is very annoying when someone adds a link for gilla then the same comp gets posted every week...its being duped. either leaves gillas thread a total mess and not really useful because a lot of the comps linked in it are duped/now in game over...thats why i say it is either add there and update the thread OR post newly each week. we are never going to agree over which way is better, so lets let each op decide ..,and if there is an ongoing thread linked in weeklies dont dupe it.......not perfect but might help save some of the confusion.

No your not on your own fire**fly, the only way that I can make sense of it all is by saving the regular comps to my bookmarks ;)

so does that mean it can be posted every week on the main as a new one & the thread not to be updated

yes leave it up to the OP :) unless it's ongoing, every week, with no end date in which case it goes in regs as an ongoing thread

as long as someone remembers to repost a weekly each week on main board I think it's a better idea as people comping by end date don't miss any of them :)

    that's fine
as I said merge requests were probably only made as it looked like the same comp with 2 thread on main

and re who is requesting merges, most are done by longstanding members who do post on the thread to say they have pm'd a BG, but a lot are random from many other users who probably don't realise they need to (so I'll add that to my tips and guidelines) :)

    ooops, i'll rephrase that :o
    think i'm getting it now,
if it's the same end date but a new question/answer wasn't this what was happening with the monthlies so they did away with the monthly's sticky ?
would it be better to post a new one each week & put in the title
NEW COMP & the old one sent to GO ?
    :o

As I said it's up to the OP of the comp really :) making rules didn't work as there wasn't 100% agreement so if someone finds a comp running each week until such and such date and wants to post as an ongoing thread with the overall end date that's up to them, however I can add to tips/guidelines that posting new each week helps out end date compers etc :)
