weeklies are only posted on the regs board if they are ongoing, every week, on a site with no enddate, otherwise they go on the main board, some get posted as a new thread each week and some are in an ongoing thread with the overall enddate, depends on the OP

Vladimars thread has the overall enddate on it so will stay on mains until then which is probably why when people see it being posted again each week they are requesting a merge

re the sticky guidelines, they had to be taken down as people still weren't happy and some things changed again, I will do another (hopefully this weekend) and I know I've said that before but have been busy or ill for last few weeks :o

it won't be 'rules' as such, just quick guidelines of what each board is for with lots of links to velvetglove's comping guide :)

    Hi Glad,

Sorry to hear you have been ill, hope you are feeling better now.

Thanks for clarifying the method for posting weeklies. Now I see what you say, I agree, that is what was stated previously and I hadn't remembered it correctly. A sticky guidelines post will certainly be better than my failing memory. I appreciate what you say about "guidelines" rather than "rules" and had deliberately avoided saying rules in my post. I just hope that people will read the guidelines and follow them and not get upset when someone points them out.

Thanks for all the work you've done for this board, Glad, it really is appreciated. :T:T

So, 1 comp goes on main with a made-up end date each week, the other stays in regs..?
It's up to the OP how it's posted, but it may get merged, even if it links back to regs with no chance of duping...?
So, do I repost this comp next week so that all those who were please to be able to enter can see it, or do I not bother?
Should the comp in regs come out onto main with a made-up end date? Should all the others?
:wall: Am too confused, and mind all ready too full :o, so time to bow out...

tbh at this point im inclined to say do away with weekly sticky, do away with weekly ongoing threads...have each one posted as a new comp each week on main. like monthies we will loose out on some that dont get posted....but people who cba to bother to check stickies for new threads wont care cause they wont know theyre missing them. wont be any risk of rest of us who do take the time to check duping our entries cause they are also being reposted each week.

move the daily sticky to main, unstickied as necessary. any weekly/biweekly advents also then need reposting as new thread every week and unlinking from advent thread.

then its simples...everything gets posted as a new comp for each entry period. but do we include dailies in that? so the current handag thread and glamour threads should be posted every day rather than bumped?

(it is confusing atm, thats why i was suggesting it just be up to the op...if someone chose to post as an ongoing thread then that should be respected and it shouldnt be duped any which way, if someone chose to post as new each week then that should be respected and that op should be left to do that without anyone posting it as anew ongoing thread until it had been missed for a week say. there is no answer that will please everyone, i miss the monthly thread, i will mis the weekly thread more and i think the extra threads on main will just make it even harder to look through all the pages but *shrugs* )

hiya GB, i'm still confused but if we all bow out it's going to get even more confusing :o

tbh i'm thinking it would be much simpler to just post them as new comps each week on main :o
the weekly sticky/peeps asking for merges/updating new then posting on main seems to be causing as much confusion as the monthly one did :o
if they were all posted as new comps each week the E: date ending compers would see them as well ?
    just MHumbleO :o

Just to clarify, I meant "Bow out" of the discussion, rather than anything more drastic ;).
:o I really am confused, (Too much going on in RL,) so will just keep an eye open for what needs to happen.

(BTW I did PM AmILucky as he was updating the Sony Ericsson thread in regs- didn't want to give the impression I was nicking / taking credit for his work. He said he was happy for me to post the comp on main, as I had done before the big debate :).)

of peeps don't read throught the comps disc to see what's happening so they will still add/post/etc
Got to agree fire-fly.The majority of MSE comp users probably couldn't care less what we do.Most just come on here & enter comps. They do not interact & probably just comp by newly posted.
The rest of us will just have to find a middle ground :-)
  • Hi

I've been out of comping for several months and am just getting back into it this last week. Since coming back I've found the number of comps posted on the board have increased dramatically, I enter as they are posted and yesterday I found that 16 pages had been posted since my last visit on the previous day, great cos there's lots to enter but nightmare trying to keep up with them all.

Some sites are going bonkers for Christmas. On average, Female First normally put on 1-2 comps each day, and suddenly they put on 60 new comps. Big thanks to elver man :A for getting them all posted - it must have been a shock when you opened the website and saw them all.
