I always try to wade through and check my unfiltered emails for any strays but have to admit that when I'm pushed for time I sometimes just delete them :eek:

I must admit I was gutted at the time. It was a pair of headphones, to be honest though, I really don't see how any headphones can be worth that much. I knew nothing about it until I got an email to say that they had picked another 'winner', that was the first time my Filter picked up on it as they hadn't used the word 'Win' 'Winner' or 'Congratulations' in either of the two notifications that they sent prior to that.

I've spent most of my weekend trying to catch up on the new comps after a long break (3 months = lots of new comps!), and I've noticed that all the comps which finished on 07/11 seem not to have been moved over to game over. I comp by date posted, so I keep clicking on closed competitions and it's taken me hours to notice the pattern, lol. I'm not sure who it is that moves the expired comps - if anyone knows, would they be able to let them know? Thanks

Just read the posts about email filters above - I hadn't realised it was possible to set up filters within an email account, so that's useful to know, and I've set some up now. I had a look through my previous WEMs (I keep them all, for motivational purposes), and several of them didn't say 'winner' or 'congratulations' in the subject, but did say 'won', so it's worth adding that in too.

All the WEMs I've had have at least one of those three words in the subject, but of course I might have missed some without them in (I do get slack about scanning through every email in full when I'm not entering many competitions, as in the past couple of months). I might also add in 'prize', although that will probably dramatically increase the number of false positives - don't see how it's possible to let you know you've won without using at least one of those words though, so it would mean less emails for me to scan through manually, if I then disregarded all others.

There are the odd few comps scattered that have expired and not been put into GO but I guess if not many people click expired then it doesn't get noticed until the BG's come across it or someone bumps it and then peeps press expired.
I did at one time PM a BG with a list of expired comps that needed moving over and got a reply saying:
"and when do you think I have the time to do this?".
So, in short, leave it until someone bumps or wait for a BG to move it.
Afterall, I am sure BG's are far too busy doing merges esp with all the new comps and posters recently.

Not that I doubt the reply just that I'm surprised by it.We should all get clicking the "Expired" button but I can understand it a bit with a bigger workload & less BG members I suppose such as this was inevitable :-)

Hiya Weeowens,

With your surprise, I am assuming you mean the BG's reply?:)
This is just my opinion but just like with the comping guide, I for one, did not read it first when joining and still haven't read it all properly (naughty me, I should ) so perhaps, not "as many" people are clicking the expired button because they don't know they really should.
Perhaps more clicks are made when the expired comp is within the first 10 pages for example.

I also agree about there being less BG's and more of a workload but with all due respect to you and the BG's, they should be on Martins back or the MSE forum team to get in replacements/more staff, if the workload is getting bigger.
After all, the BG's are volunteers and compers themselves etc.
Remember just my opinion.

hi weeowens, i'm not surprised by it, at one time i had a reply asking me NOT to keep sending merges & was asked i was a bored housewife :rotfl:by a bg, so i stopped sending them to them,
i now just press the 'expired'

If anyone comes across expired comps on the main board just send me a pm, even if it's all the comps from one date, they don't take 2 mins to do
