I was asked to edit the title to bring the weekly thread out of GO, I can't remember who by but did it in good faith0

readers digest not working for me today.didn't do it yesterday.
Do you think its worth doing? I have been doing it for a year and I am wondering if I am wasting my timeNo you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
Thanks to everyone who posts competitions. You are the stars of the board :T:j:T0 -
I'll post again when the new question appears & put a note on to ask it not be merged ........ although that didn't do much good on GB's post!0
-
Thanks for the link to Glads post fire**fly ......... have bookmarked it so I can read it out in court0

I always write in the thread who I've asked when I request a merge too, I certainly wouldn't have asked for GB and Vladivar's threads to be merged because I never venture in to the Regulars Board and wouldn't have seen them if they had not been on the Main Board at all.
Isn't this another weekly one? Be interesting to see if that gets merged too:

If you look at this thread, one person complained (and did admitedly get one "Thanks,") about a comp I posted EXACTLY as was agreed back in the days of the great Regs debate. Several posted in support, pointing out that it was there legitimately. It was still merged
Realise I'd made a boob linking to the original comp before, but was careful not to do it this week.
Very disheartening....
Yes gb, I know, My comment was meant to be a somewhat "tongue in cheek" comment about "several" compers comments complaining about WOW being enough to have it removed as opposed to the many hundreds that didn't comment at all.
Regarding the weekly comps, I was under the impression that the big discussion concluded that weekly comps should be posted on the Regs board using the eventual end date where known and updated with each weeks new question. At the same time it was OK to put a post on the main board on a weekly basis with that weeks end date but that this post should only link to the main post in regulars and not directly to the comp site.
If the sticky post setting out the new "practices" hadn't been removed, we would all know what was right.0 -
With this thread
I have posted on the main board every week for the benefit of end date compers & people who don't use regs, which I said I would do in the original thread.
Just found that my posts have been merged for the last 2 weeks.
Now not sure if I should bother posting this week?
this comp isn't in regs, it's on the main board as it has an end date, if you read my post I basically said with weeklies it's up to the OP wether the thread has an overall enddate or is posted each week, this one has the overall enddate and people have been updating it each week
that's why it's linked in the weekly sticky, if it was posted each week it wouldn't need to beI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. with regards to weeklies (and dailies) it needs to be
EITHER post as an ongoing thread with the overall end date/guessed end date on main or weekly instead of endd date on regs, and bump/update the thread for each weeks entry AND link to the thread in the weekly sticky
OR repost each week as a new thread and DO NOT link in the weekly sticky.
NOT BOTH WAYS, reposting each week means a link in weekly sticky is useless and pointless.
i would suggest that as there never was an agreement we can compromise? if an op chooses to post every week then do it that way and dont add to weekly thread BUT if an op chooses to post as an ongoing thread then let it be that way to and DO NOT dupe the comp again, in any way as a new thread if there is an ongoing thread anywhere. lets leave it up tot he op posting and not tell them theyre doing it wrong in either case?:A
posting links to the ongoing thread as new each week on main was trialled after amilucky suggested it and a LOT of people complained about how that meant they had to make extra clicks to get to the actual entry. i would ask why is it not fair that they ahve to make extra clicks if a link to the reg thread is posted but it is fair that eg. i, as someone who uses thge weekly thread has to make extra clicks to open a new thread to check if i already entered this week or not when a regularly updated thread is duped? i would prefe rif you are going to insist on duping comps that you do include at least a link to the reg thread, after all, as i was told repeatedly im in a minority who bothers to use weekly sticky so it doesnt matter that i have extra work because threads are duped when others have the choice of also looking for new threads in the sticky :rotfl:
people have the choice of ignoring weekly sticky (and thus maybe missing out on a few comps) or checking in there. if the weekly/daily stickies are too hard to do then how does everyone manage advents? no one ever complains about having to check into that thread for new comps they may miss otherwise. i really dont understand that tbh,0 -

weeklies are only posted on the regs board if they are ongoing, every week, on a site with no enddate, otherwise they go on the main board, some get posted as a new thread each week and some are in an ongoing thread with the overall enddate, depends on the OP
Vladimars thread has the overall enddate on it so will stay on mains until then which is probably why when people see it being posted again each week they are requesting a merge
re the sticky guidelines, they had to be taken down as people still weren't happy and some things changed again, I will do another (hopefully this weekend) and I know I've said that before but have been busy or ill for last few weeks
it won't be 'rules' as such, just quick guidelines of what each board is for with lots of links to velvetglove's comping guideI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards.
