I've seen some compers ask for email addresses to be posted as they don't have outlook. I don't have outlook but when I click on a link, it opens up straight in my gmail:
Firefox
go to Tools - Options - Applications then scroll down to mailto and choose from the dropdown list.
IE
Tools - Internet Options - Programs

I have been wanting to do this for ages. I use IE. I am probably being really thick (I'm not the best at anything technical), but I have clicked on Tools, then on Internet Options, then on the programs tab, then on the email picklist, windows live hotmail is already selected (I use a hotmail email address), so I thought that should be ok, yet if I click the email section of a competition, it still opens up Outlook. Can anyone please help me in simple terms?
Thank you and thank you Matroyshyka for bringing this forward.0 -

Hi,
Sorry to jump in, hope you don't mind?
Did you click apply and then ok?
or just ok then it closed?
Hope this helps!:silenced:0 -
I don't mind at all about you jumping in - any help gratefully received.
I didn't click apply, because I had not changed anything. Windows live hotmail was already the preferred option. Just in case it made any difference, I have now gone back in and clicked apply and tried it again. Yet still it opens up Outlook.0 -

Hi,
Sorry, I get it now!
I tried it on mine, as I use neither and it worked either way i.e outlook or hotmail.
See here it might help.:silenced:0 -
Thanks for the link. I have had a look at the page that this links to and if nothing else, this has perhaps made me realise that the problem might be because I am using Windows XP, whereas the instructions are for Windows Vista.
I will spend some time reading through the various links from that page, to see if I can glean anything.
Thanks for taking the time to try and help me.0 -
