Hey Diz, glad you've posted. 5 more months on the loan, that's not bad at all - you can do it, just stay positive and keep thinking about being £275 per month better off. As for the OD - Yuk. But you'll get there.
Keep us updated on your progress

Hiya seaxwyn zippy and Girlracer you're all so lovely.
Our grocery bills are were we can make the most saving but its still beyond me. I know what you're saying about others low food bills zippy, they must be very strict with themelves, and that's something I've yet to achieve. I don'think I ever will. I said I was going to do a menu later and I haven't!! The intentions there but I can't make the effort. seaxwyn I'm glad it's not just our house that's like that at tea-time.I've found a recipe for lentil and tomato soup for you. Not tried it but childen tend to like tomato soup so here it is... 5-6 servings
Ingredients
3 tbs veg.oil 1 large onion 1 carrot coarsley grated 8oz lentls 2 level tsp salt 3 pints water 2tsp mixed herbs 1/2 pint tinned or sliced fresh tomatoes 2 level tbs flour salt and peper to taste.
Method.
In a large saucepan fry together oil, onion, carrot and lentils over low heat for 1 minutes, stirring frequently. Add salt, water and herbs. Bring to boil, simmer until lentl are soft. Add tomatoes and cook for 5 minutes. Rub through sieve or strainer and return to pan. Stir in flour, blended with little cold water. Boil to thicken. Add seasoning and more water if soup too thick. Serve with toast or cubes of bread fried in little oil. There's one for lentil curry too if you want that just let me know.
Girlracer I so can't wait till that loan is paid for and I won't be getting another...no I won't. Touch wood.

Well been selling a bit on ebay with success! Keeping finances under control at the moment so that's good. Bit like bolting stable door etc. but at least in the right direction. Chilling out tonight, with a book. Feeling more positive than I have been of late. Got over £70 so far in sponsorship for dog walk on sunday ran by Manchester Dogs home so that's brilliant and that's only from work.
Third year we've done it and raised more this year than last two. Really pleased about that. Going now as really tired today. An early night tonight I think.

Glad to hear about the ebay success and that you're keeping finances under control - well done you! And that's amazing achievement on the sponsored dog walk.
We had lentil soup last night and it was delicious - thank you! I shouldnt mention this on a vegan's thread but I added some ham.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -

Well we did the dog walk today and have raised over £100 in sponsor money for Manchester Dogs Home. That is such a lovely feeling. They do such a good job there as most animal charities do.
Also on the spending front I went into Asda today and gave cash...normally I would have handed over my card but I thought "NO GIVE REAL MONEY" well maybe I didn't think it in capitalsbut it was a bit of a struggle with my inner voice, luckily sense prevailed! I have also been banking any extra money intead of wasting it on rubbish and transferred ebay money into account as well. Feeling really really positive about my finances, I can do it, and I will do it!!! Honestly, normally anything extra would have just been frittered away but it's like there's been a change in my attititude and outlook etc. can't explain it but enjoying it all the same. Did buy a hot water bottle today though, I was off work last thursday and friday with cramps and aching joints, like a virus, so thought a hot water bottle would help. Going in work tomorrow so better have an early night.
I've also been looking on the 'christmas thread' and I'm determined to be organised this year and have written a rough gift list. Also may crochet some scarves as pressies. I made myself one and people say it's lovely and this will keep me from spending as I have lots of wool left over from various projects, to keep me busy! Have to go now as ds let me go on here while he had a shower and he's hankering next to me!!!! Well hope I can keep this up even after I've been paid this month. I CAN!!!!!Official DFW Nerd Club Member no:219In the Court Of The Crimson KingI don't believe in the concept of hell, but if I did I would think of it as filled with people who were cruel to animals.Gary Larson0 -
Hey Diz, long time no speak, how's it going chick. Look at the number of payments left on that loan girl, your certainly getting there.
I must say your sounding a lot more positive with regards to your finances than you have in a long time so I hope youryur going to keep up banking the money instead of fritting it. Congrats on the sponsor money, that's a fabulous achievement for such a good cause.
Nothing major happening with me (no major lottery wins or distant relative leaving me money) so I'm just ever so slowly lowering my balance but at least they are going in the right direction.
Keep posting hun, I love to hear how your doing x0 -
Hiya GirlRacer and thanks for the support. That elusive lottery win eh...if only. At least yours is coming down, slowly but surely is the best way. I do feel more positive, even thinking about getting organised for Christmas, and after making tea when I got home from work (had it planned) I even started crocheting a scarf. Keeps me out of mischief. So I'm sitting on my bed with our little Jack Russell lying in my lap nodding off (dog not me) and it just felt so nice. Then eldest son wanted a lift so off we went, but I intend to go back upstairs and finish the scarf soon.
Keep well and thanks again for 'dropping' in. xOfficial DFW Nerd Club Member no:219In the Court Of The Crimson KingI don't believe in the concept of hell, but if I did I would think of it as filled with people who were cruel to animals.Gary Larson0 -
Another payment off the loan. Now only 4 more to go. Of course my overdraft has gone up but not as much as it would have been if I hadn't been really careful this month. Finished off the scarf as well last night. Looks really good and a bit retro. Wore it to school today and it was admired (wonder if they were just being kind though):o Anyway I might make another in a different colour later tonight. Bit tired though so will have to see how I feel. Actually I think I might make another but in a different pattern. I'm rambling aren't I? Will just have browse on here and then chill out I think.Official DFW Nerd Club Member no:219In the Court Of The Crimson KingI don't believe in the concept of hell, but if I did I would think of it as filled with people who were cruel to animals.Gary Larson0
