So short of legal action it seems there is nothing i can do...
And legal action won't get you anywhere either.

As I said earlier, you have no claim against the carrier, simply because you have no contract with them.

I have today been given another headache thanks to Yodel! firstly in March I ordered three albums. one of which wasn't in stock but that was ok I could wait for it. whilst setting up delivery I noticed they have a pickup locations option so I could have it delivered to my local shop rather then wait in all day for a parcel or go out of my way depending on the carrier to collect it and waste a drivers time. first 2 cd's next day "prime" delivery where sent to Scotland before coming back down to the local shop. one cd ok the other one was smashed. I had an awful time trying to replace that but that's for another thread. I was given a small amount of compensation so I will give Amazon credit where it is due.

Later on that month I get an e-mail to say they are bringing out a fire tv stick. I had a friend who was interested and I told them that I would purchase it for them making use of my prime membership. So the day of release comes and it is dispatched. I come home and track the parcel to find that it has been refused by customer and being returned to sender. Finding this strange I go to the local shop and ask the owner why he would have refused it. Unsurprisingly the shop owner who stated that they hadn't seen the driver at all that day and infact had parcels for him to collect. he even checked cctv and confirmed that the driver hadn't entered the premises at all. so with this information I call amazon who couldn't understand what had happened or where the parcel even was but as it was marked up as being return to sender sent me out another to my home address free of charge and express before 1pm the next day.

I have now just gotten off of the phone with Amazon again because the cd had come in stock and was expected to be delivered yesterday however once again the geographically challenged Yodel have sent it to London.

now here is the part I find makes this so stupid. I live 9 miles away from the amazon warehouse that all of these have been dispatched from. I cannot believe Amazon are using such a bad courier service. I have never had a problem until I used the collect+ service by Yodel thinking it would be easier for me and the drivers. I guess the drivers will have to be put out as I am a delivery driver myself albeit for school meals so do not have to deal with people not being in but cannot book days off in term time to make sure I'm in to receive parcels.

I'm not looking for compensation but I am struggling to find the postal address to send a complaint to does anyone have it or know where I can find it?

As you live so close, why not pop round and put it through their letterbox?

    Hi all,

I was wondering if similar rules applied with no parcel collection?

I sold an item on ebay and needed to ship the parcel to the buyer. i set everything up on a next day delivery via Parcel Monkey. paid just shy of a tenner for the service via DX Courier. This was booked in the night before at a reasonable time for collection the next day. however the next day came and the courier didnt even turn up. i chased with DX and they said that the parcel isn't being collected today but will be collected the following day. i told them this was not acceptable, as i had paid for a next day delivery service and im not getting that. i also complained to Parcel Monkey asking why this was not collected and why i was mis-lead. they're response was just an apology with no explanation. I'm fuming right now as I have paid effectively for first class (next day delivery) and receiving 2nd class post!

anyone else had similar problems? any advice or tips on where to go from here? i feel conned and want to get payback!

    Yes, it does.

If you have suffered a loss due a failed delivery, failed courier collection, service man's failure to attend as agreed, etc, etc, then of course you can claim.

Their actions, or inactions, have directly caused that loss.

Well i have since been back in touch with Parcel Monkey and spoke on their live chat.. it seems their get out of jail free card is the following...

(Parcel Monkey - Live Support Chat)
When booking the service it is not a guarantee next day service, I have added our terms and conditions that cover this and are agreed to at the time of booking Please see this extract from our terms and conditions below:

    8.6.
The Company shall not be liable for late collections unless there is valid evidence of a period of 5 working days from the date the goods were scheduled to be collected on.

Funny how this isn't at the forefront of each booking. but they are quite happy to take your money but give the customer a 2nd post service, with no explanation why they screwed up! once this is over I'm closing my account with these clowns.

You have no contract with DX, surprised they even spoke with you.

If you want guaranteed next day service go to the courier direct, not a middle man which you selected for no other reason that to save money (which as you now find out gives you a substandard service).
  • I've used Martin's tips recently to challenge a well known national retailer for their failure to deliver my order. I've been offered a significant amount in compensation. Don't want to prejudice this by saying too much just now but will come back with details once everything is done and dusted. My simple advice in the meantime is be assertive but courteous. Remember the tone of your engagement will either help or hinder you. if you are aggressive they'll be aggressive back which gets you nowhere. A well constructed and measured email or letter to a senior executive may get get you better results than trying to deal with someone at the end of a phone who is much further down the line than you need.
