Hi,
I order a lot online (the joys of living in rural Cornwall!) and normally am really happy with the couriers used, however, today I had a bad experience with DPD. I ordered with new look yesterday paying for next day delivery (so today). Got my email giving me my time slot. Was home and waited in the lounge (our front door opens in the lounge, we have 2 barking dogs and live down the end of a lane on a no through road so no chance I could have missed it!).
Time comes and goes so I log on to tracking to discover that apparantly they tried to deliver but I wasn't in. Ha! I tried to phone DPD but you need the number from the calling card which i of course don't have as delivery was not attempted. Phoned new look (who were great by the way) and on their system the driver had delivered to a wooden door and pinned note on that. Well we have a glass door so he either went to wrong house or just made it up. So annoyed as paid for next day and have had to cancel order as if they redeliver it won't get to me before I needed it. New look have lost a £80 order and I won't be using them again (shame as not their fault but don't want to use DPD again!0 -
To cut an EXTREMELY long story very short, they totally messed up my order, cancelled it, re-ordered it, tried to deliver it TO THE WRONG ADDRESS, I had to take a day off work to be in for the courier for THEIR ERROR, now they won't accept my claim for having to take a day off work.
You took a day off why? Because they told you the goods would be delivered on that day and if your not home to sign for them they will be returned straight back to their depot? Or was it because you didn't want the extra hassle of phoning the courier to have the goods redelivered on a day you had off and therefore chose to take the day off instead?
I'm betting like most complaints on this issue it is the latter... because you only really need to be home on a specific day for goods suchas large appliances, pallet deliveries ect which could incur charges fo failed deliveries.0 -
Dear oh dear - hope the hapless customer for THIS delivery didn't have to take a day off work to wait in for it:-

With reference to that sanctimonious tirade by arcon5 against my original post on this thread (page 6) accusing me of 'fueling the compensation culture' - can we assume that arcon5 wouldn't seek compensation from FedEx if it had been his computer monitor????0 -
Hello, I ordered some items from Victoria Plumbing (L37 8EG) and I am disappointed I have sat in for the day (Wed 21 December 2011) awaiting my planned pallet delivery which I paid £39.95 for and around 2pm receive a call to inform myself no delivery will be made but can fit myself in tomorrow morning. I reasonably asked for a small credit to be given to have someone else sit in on a rescheduled delivery date but this gesture was point blank refused and yet if I had done the same and failed to take delivery on the agreed date an additional fee would be charged. Why do they think a customers time is worth less?
I suggested to go to a local diy shop to buy similar goods which would allow my day not to be wasted but was shocked to find I would be charged the £39.95 delivery fee for the failed delivery + an additonal £39.95 to return the goods which were not received. So ultimately the customer is faced to pay a £79.90 fine or lose a days pay - through no fault of the customer.
Yours unhappy customer

Making the presumption you are a private individual and not a business, tell them to take a run and jump. Under the Distance Selling Regulations, you would have the right to cancel your order and not be charged anything.
If you are a business, I'd still advise you to tell them to take a run and jump and ask them to sue you, if they feel so confident of winning.
Have you already paid for the goods, if so, by what method? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
I purchased a Groupon voucher in August to buy a Home Call clean & service for my Central Heating boiler. After many attemps to contact them. I finally managed to pin them down for an home visit on Monday 5ht December but unfortunetly it was a no show. A call at 12.30am informed me they would not be coming and that Groupon would contact me. No further information.
I have tried to contact them but it is a nightmare.
So I printed out the Money Saving experts template and sent it giving them 2 weeks to respond but to no avail they have ignored me yet again.
What do I do now? Please help

Hi
I ordered a Christmas present online on 16/12/11 and paid £6.99 for express delivery to arrive on 19/12/11. Needless to say, it didn't arrive and finally after numerous conversations via livechat (they wouldn't answer the phone) at 10:40pm that night I received an email to say that they couldn't find my parcel and were having to send it again. I was offered a free gift as a 'goodwill gesture' for the inconvenience. Anyhow, this goodwill gesture has still not arrived even though it was apparently sent on 20/12/11 by Royal Mail. I've spoken to my postman who says that there are no issues with the post so I'm guessing it is not going to arrive. I've contacted the company who are simply fobbing me off with one excuse after another. Any suggestions?0 -
I once ordered groceries from Tesco and 2 hrs after the delivery slot time had been and gone the delivery still hadn't turned up. When I rang Tesco's and spoke to the manager there was no apology and he said they could deliver my groceries the next day instead (which wasn't possible for me as I would be away for a couple of days). I politely suggested that maybe I should get a refund of my delivery charge and the manager got very aggressive and said that it was up to him. I cancelled the order and wrote to Tesco's HQ to complain but never had a response, so I assume they just didn't care. I've since heard from various people that the manager at that branch is a nasty bit of work who bullies the staff as well as the customers. I will never order from Tesco's again, they're obviously too big to care.0

Have you complained to Groupon Jeannie? Their Customer service will get back to you, although they are a bit slow, probably overwhelmed with complaints at the moment!
I have a query of my own I hope someone can help. I ordered an Ipod from a private seller on Amazon's Marketplace for a Christmas prezzie for my daughter on 9th Dec, it was apparently sent by Royal Mail on the 10th with an estimated delivery date of between 15th - 24th Dec. It still hasn't turned up, it's not at my local sorting office or with a neighbour. I have emailed the seller yesterday but no reply as yet. Who is responsible for claiming compensation from Royal Mail, as I will need a refund before I can buy another belated Christmas Ipod for upset daughter?0
