Can we get our OH's or DH's to start their own daily thread, about the why's and what for's, and hopefully the useless male species can learn from the OS male's - Does that make sense! perhaps by swapping notes they might learn something and appreciate us more! (I can hope for a miracle)
No offence to Penineman tho!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
jellycat - good news re the job, after a tough week, im glad something good has happened!!!
Roz - (((HUGS))) maybe buy him one of those rockets, that would teach him!!!!
Had a nice afternoon, a friend came around for dinner and a chat, first time i think without cracking open a bottle of wine (sticking to my diet, even though i put on a 1lb last week!!!) but was still nice, and the lasgne i made the other day and froze came out lovely too!!!!
Had a good day with my flylady challenge, cleaned the bathroom, toilets, kitchen (including the floor, under the table which is the bit i hate doing!!!) and sorted out another hot spot, and had plenty of time to play with the little ones.
Just waiting for the DW to finish, then i will put that away, make the packed lunches and thats me done for the day!!
Have a great evening everyone,
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -
Evening everyone :hello:
Huge ((((hugs)))) to everyone that needs them.
Big congratulations to jellycat on the job!
I got back from my day of supply teaching in time to let the estate agent in to do his "valuation" for our landlord. He said that apparently alot of people request valuations at this time of year for insurance purposes, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
I've also had my brother popping in for a cup of tea. He was on a course 20 miles away and so decided that I was close enough to pop in on.How kind of him! He was also en route to see a friend in Peterborough, but he was running early  . I hardly see him, other than when DH and I pop up to see my parents, so it was good of him to pop in. He's frustrated with his web designer who seems to be taking months over a simple website. My bro does the marketing and gets freelancers to do the websites. This particular freelancer seems to be avoiding work, and I can see his frustrations. If I was a web designer, then I'd help him. Sadly, I can post 'til the cows come home on MSE OS, but I can't do an executive website!
Supper tonight is a portion of spag bol (thought it was chilli con carne, but it's like Russian roulette in our freezer) that was saved for an occasion where DH or I were out of the house and there was only one mouth to feed. I do like my spag bol, which is lucky really.
Oooooh, I've had some good news. An old work colleague text me about 30 mins ago to say that his wife is pregnant with their first baby! They are really lovely people and I know that they have been wanting a baby since they got married a couple of years ago. :j :j
Better go and heat up my spag bol!

Well, had a really busy day at work actually earning a crust. I have kept up with you all today and while I won't reply/thank everyone just want to say -
Special mention to dearest Lily and parents; grrrrh to partners etc who are causing grief; sorry to hear about the non-sleepers, poorly etc. Great to hear about those who have done well with getting jobs, interviews and sitting exams, having fences put up and all the rest.
Snow might be here tomorrow so not looking forward to that. I don't like bad weather driving.
Had day 2 of our left over chicken curry tonight - 14 portions and soup from the Xmas chicken - wonderful. Having cauli cheese tomorrow with a half price cauli from Lidl.
I am fairly OS (except when DGSs need something and I am a sucker!) but having read loads on this site I am afraid I am a bit 'funny' about washing up liquid. Actually I am the same with teabags. I always buy Fairy and it does last for ages. In the past I have tried cheapy stuff but didn't like it. However, if that is only one of my luxury buys I don't things too bad! I think if you can save on a lot of other things you can indulge in a few things you prefer the brands.
Anyway, take care all of you. I am off to watch Corrie. DH's pal coming through soon to watch footie so I am upstairs! Must sort out washing and get some on tonight.
Love and hugs to all.

Hi:j
Had a crap time at tea, made stovies for us and kids and had put on a omlette for ds1 but unknown to me i had switched on the wrong ring for the omlette, so 15 mins later while i was feeding lo, i smelt a strong smell of burning electric/acid, started getting worried checked lights, plugs and computer to no avail! went in kitchen and the smell caught my throat!
How i switched on the wrong one is beyond me, but guess what thats not all, think lo must have chucked my mobile phone beside said ring and it had melted right through to the wiring! so gave me a fright! i had 3 pans sitting on top as well, ready to go in cupboard and they were burning hot, so silly me placed them on worktop, now the worktop has got a burnt mark on it and has started to peel off!
Apart from that great!
Roz Hugs, know the feeling, men can be right tools:D

Evening All
(((hugs))) seem to be needed by lots of people today so take one if you need one.
Oh dear Kyle - do you think anything would be covered under your home insurance policy?
Not done much today, but found out last night that our one of our friends who we see occasionly sons died in a tragic accident a couple of days ago, he was only about 19 - puts things in perspective doesnt it.
Went to college this morning and did an exam think did alright, then came home straight afterwards as have had gyppy tummy all day. Have done some washing and OH hoovered all floors, didnt get round to washing them though.
Had shepherds pie for tea, all cleared up and kitchen sides washed down, kids lunches made and homework all up straight.
Have a small ironing pile which will get done tomorrow morning, then off to Opticians with oh (just in case he needs to chose glasses) and then we will treat ourselves to lunch out.
Off now for a little more surfing then plan to go to bed early and watch the spendaholics I taped last night.
Enjoy your evening.0 -
Kyle do it all the time, i burnt one of my kids b/day presents he had just opened once, i had walk into kitchen to get a drink for one of the kids with them in my hand and for some stupid reason just poped them on top of hob, 10 mins later smelt burning, i must have catch switch as i went past.
This is one of the reasons i hate electric cookers, wish we had a gas point for oven, and the fact that mine even though it was a new cooker 3 yrs ago doesnt have any lights to tell me rings are on!!Proud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0 -
hello to everyone!
sounds like lots are having tough times at home with kids and OH's. hope you all sort it out.
work today wasnt too bad...but came home to my essay results...43%. counts as a pass...but I am so disappointed. I seem to have answered a different essay question
still a few glasses of wine...and a good nights sleep and I'll get over it. Its only 20% of course so there's room to study hard and catch up.
